Style as wonderful as Ani`sStyle as wonderful as Ani`s
author: Kathy DekreyMali is really wonderful. I saw her on a Ani lovers forum. She is really really good. I have never hear someone with a style as wonderful as Ani`s, but she is really right up there. I am for real going to have to order her CD`s! Mali's lyrics are very moving. If she writes her own material, she does a wonderful job... hats off to you. Keep up the good work! I'd like to know when she does folk fest in Wennipeg, Canada. It would be great to see her live. ~Kathy Dekrey~
The vocals was genius in this track
author: The BlueTabooMali Woods, although she definitely has some killer freakin' braids - it was Mali's song "Gravity's Job" that hooked me. I absolutely LOVE this track! The sound she has achieved here is quite unique; an interesting blend going on - with backdrops of soul and folk being laced with an urban style. I find her vocal sound extremely appealing, and the layering of the vocals was genius in this track - for me, they make the song. Also, well deserving of being mentioned here are the lyrics... For those of you with a love for depth in lyrics - this song is where it's at... One of my favorite lines: "Cause I've been thinking so much I can taste it", yeah that goes down on my list as one of the best lyrical statements ever. I live that line of lyrics, daily. Please take a moment to check out the Mali Woods page on MySpace - listen to her files, add her as a friend, leave comments, and let her know who sent you!

Those lines really hit me in the gut!
author: KTI checked out your site and watched your video. I must tell you.... "its gravity's job 2 pull me down/ not yours" Wow....and "eat these words from my mouth/cause i've been thinking so much i can taste it" Wow You probably get that a lot, but, I just had to say it. I can tell you I know exactly what you mean. Those lines really hit me in the gut. I'll be sure to check out your other songs too. I dig your music. Do you ever tour to the Mid-West? KT
Woods comparisons to Ani DiFranco...vocals equally recall Erykah Badu
author: Download.com EditorWith her rich, husky voice and troubadour's approach to the guitar, Los Angeles-based chanteuse Mali Woods resides somewhere between neo-soul and urban-folk. An urgent, listen-to-my-story delivery has earned Woods comparisons to Ani DiFranco, but her deep, battle-scarred vocals equally recall Erykah Badu.

Completely blown away with what you had to say!
author: CharliI'm definately into music with lyrics that mean something, and lyrics about NATURE, love, LIFE, and philosophy are lyrics that should be in all songs and over ride all else. :) I was reading the artist description on the download page and was completely blown away with what you had to say! All that about music and the way it made you feel in life and going places in your mind is so much of what i've felt, I can relate to you well. I've never been musically talented, but damn I can't ever get enough of it, man! I feel so attached to music, and music that touches me stays with me in an interesting way, and really makes me who I am. Anyways, I listened to both of your songs.. You're the musically talented person I never have been, my friend. I really like your stuff. Much peace and love, lady.. Smiles of happiness, --CharLi
Gotta love this girl's spirit!
author: Dj Red HeadDamn! Gotta love this girl's spirit! She is speak her mind and it makes a lot of sense. She most likely makes a lot of people mad as hell and nervous. She's even managed to pull of a soulful/alternative sound. That's amazing to me. There's not a lot of alternative/folk artist that can mix black soul in to their music without is sounding "hella corny". Much respect girl!!! You've got something rare working for you Mali Woods. The last time I saw a white person do this was Eminem. Dj Red Head - Why? most people make my blood temp rise!
Phrasing things in an unconventional way
author: Gian FieroI love lyrics. We all have something to say, but a lyrical person has a gift for phrasing things in an unconventional way. Mali Woods, who is from Sunny Los Angeles, California, is such a person. The hypnotic lead single from her second CD would make most creative writing teachers proud. It's a neo-soul/r&b/avant garde production that she uses as a sheet of paper to write and perform her pensive lyrics - which are her greatest talent and the feature of this song. Mali's mature vocals benefit from well-constructed chord progressions that drive the track forward into what sounds more like religious chanting than a chorus, but it's equally as effective because it sticks...even if the song ends abruptly and you don't know what it's about.
Keep on Sista
author: Jimmy SprinklesWsup, Jimmy Sprinkles your hottest DJ here. Your style is awesome and very creative. Keep on Sista. I'll get ya some airplay on my hip hop.
A guitar with a unique approach
author: Emmnauel MetsagharunI usually go through the internet looking @ music and unsigned act, and I came across your music on overplay as an unsigned act, but it seems you guys got your game on point. I really loved the music, played 'stars' and gravitys job>>>stars seems to be my favourite and people around me are actually singing along to it. Nice to see hear music acoustically created on a guitar with a unique approach. I just loved what you were about, the profound lyrics and staying true, just wondering if you ve realesed any albums, and the business sides of your music as well. God bless
It left an impression on me! The Hindu touch...wow!
author: AkshitaGravity's Job is one of my favorites songs this year. Just had to let ya know. It has a real Hindu spiritual touch. It real serves its purpose in showing that music is spirituality. I'd love to actually know someone like you!
It grew on me
author: Doug WalkerAt first I didn't know, but after hearing it more and seeing the video, I get it. Its like that sometimes with new artist with new music styles. Certain music has to be heard then the listener has to understand the artist's point, direction, or the general focus. I like the attitude.
She's a hot, hot, hot cutie!
author: Josh RaynI like the song. Cool beat, kind of reminds me of the Eminem and Dido track. But I like her more than the music. She has this magnetic allure. Mali where you get those looks...she get it from her mamma and daddy.
Just wanted to offer my support
author: Judith ReynoldsI love Mali Woods and her music! We've worked together on some indie films. "Melodic Wand" help set the atomsphere for 3 film projects. I heard that "The Intangible Sketch" will be one of those "keep in the CD changer for months" projects. I'd like my advanced copy before hand Mali-cule!!! Peace 05' Woodsy
Its worth checking out!
author: Jersey GrrlA casting director friend of my said to checkout this new alternative, urban, hip hop influenced girl name Mali Woods. I'm always look to hear some new tunes. She was right, the girl got it going on! I understand she's indie now, but I except to see her on the Billboard charts soon and see a lot more of her. Until then Mali Woods...Peace. Jersey Grrl
You got something there Mollywoods
author: Star ChildI thought I was going to hear that same old "I'm conscious and spiritual" stuff that's become so tired, but I was wrong. I heard something really different and good. I'll be looking out for this girl. She's going to make a name for herself. Great song!
I like her, her music, and what she's saying
author: Matty SpindelI first heard Mali Woods on our LA Music Scene site, then out live. She's do something that always surfaces from what seems like no where, but is essential in the music industry. I can already see how this is going to turn out...a lot of Mali Woods "Wanna Bees", which sucks, but that's just how it works.
I saw Mali's show, she's different, but good
author: Jenni BurkartI saw Mali perform out at Highland Grounds in Hollywood. She didn't do Gravity's Job though, it was her all acoustic stuff, which was good. Then I heard Gravity's Job and couldn't get her lyrics out of my head. The song works for me! I like the music video a lot too.
I like Mali...its artist like this that push music foward
author: Dj Moe DoeI love music that mixes different musical elements 2-gether that start a new sound. Mali...fuckin' Bravo! Your music is "That Shit". I waiting for the ablum!!! Dj Moe Doe
