Isn't it funny how several people in our lives can be telling us the same thing over and over again and even though we are listening, we just can't hear them? Then when that one person comes along and says the same thing just a little bit differently, it becomes so clear to us. This is the case with Maje.
A new artist who's self titled debut EP brings to life a brief perceptiveness into who she is as an artist. In her debut CD, Maje covers Bobby Caldwell's Shape I'm In and the Beatles, Oh Darling while giving us a glimpse into her talent as a songwriter in The Mourning After. However instead of merely singing Bobby Caldwell's and The Beatles songs, she brings a different attitude to them in her own sensuous, moody and emotional Adult Contemporary style.
In this "collection of broken heartedness," Maje takes you through the final emotional stages of an ill-fated relationship. From the questions of wondering why it ended, to the desire to somehow fix it and the despair of coming to the realization that it's over, to the moving on from it.
While many artists sing other artist's songs because of their previous success, Maje sings them because of their real life meaning to her. While other artists believe in diversity to try to catch the short sighted attention of music fans, Maje believes in herself and knowing that she doesn't need tricks or trends to connect with real fans. She just needs to look within.
