notes

This youthful band of sisters presents vivacious fiddling, dynamic percussion and enchanting four part harmony to capture heart and toe. Celtic Fire with Class!!

Since early childhood Havilah, Heather, Abigail & Tabitha Justice have been actively performing classical and baroque music with their nine siblings as a part of their Mothers vision for a well-rounded home-schooling education.

In 2003 Havilah and Heather brought Maidens II into existence as an engaging Violin and Voice duo. They began performing Renaissance, Celtic and Folk music intricately weaving song with theatrical drama for motor-coach tours and restaurant venues.

In 2005 younger sister Abigail added the alto sounds of her Viola as the Maidens performances were now reaching 60 gigs a year.

2006 brought in youngest sister Tabitha’s driving guitar rhythms! Kindling a new sound and genre as Maidens IV, the band now flames the fire of Celtic and Folk music performing in a variety of venues from Fairs and Festivals to private events.

The Maidens classically trained lead vocalist, Heather, holds captive her audiences with sparkling brilliance. She arranges all the music for Maidens and composes much of the vocals and instrumentals, giving the band its distinctive Maidens fire. Her Bodhrán is the heartbeat of their percussion. Havilah’s bright and spirited Violin flames their reels, jigs and ethnic tunes. Close on her heels Abigail’s vibrant Viola adds a depth and rich harmony to the group. Tabitha enriches Maidens with her driving rhythms and sensitive acoustic Guitar. Spirited rhythms of these Maiden sisters give youthful vigor to Celtic & Folk sounds.

I first heard Maidens Four at the Highland Festival in Alma, Michigan in May. After they sang Doxology, I thought "That's the most beautiful music I've ever heard in my life" (and I listen to a lot of music).

My wife got me this CD for Christmas. I have long been a fan of Celtic music and have been eagerly awaiting the happy marriage of Celtic music with Christian themes. If you like the Irish rock and roll flavor of Bothy Band and the angelic voice talent of Celtic Woman, you will be delighted with Four Aflame. It's not that these girls are as good as some of the other Celtic bands with greater name recognition; they're better. They're fresh, they're vibrant, and they play with the passion that makes all the difference.

Got the chills with the singing on Doxology. Great stuff. Maybe an album of old timey hymns in the works? That would be great.

  • We saw them at the Great Lakes Medieval Faire too!!

Saw them at the faire with a friend. Promised to get their cd for her birthday and did so as it just pasted. She loves it and plays it constantly in her car. The girls do a great job!

I heard maidens four play at the ohio state ren faire a few times. This is what got me to like celtic music. I must admit that I haven't heard much celtic music except for occasionally at ren faires and on the radio, but the maidens IV is different from other bands i have heard. I loved it. the pieces were beautifully performed and choreographed at the ohio state ren faire. I loved the melodies.

  • This is the best Celtic CD I've ever heard!!

This CD is just lovely! The talent which God has given these young women to create captivating music with which to glorify Him is beautifully displayed in this album. I love the voices of sisters blending together especially in Doxology. Keep singing for the Lord!

Well, I don't know where to start... The first impression was astonishment and surprise... Despite common opinion, that there are too many folk musicians nowadays I say - REALLY good musicians are as rare as unicorns. And you are damn good!!! Except for music policy... I'm a pirate4life, so it is quite a sad situation. But nevertheless - good luck and just in case my e-mail is Sidri_cyberdog@europe.com

  • Awesome CD. These girls rock!

Listen to the first four songs and you are hooked. The Maidens have great energy and perform beyond their years both vocally and instrumentally. I also enjoy the wonderful harmonies on Doxology. I'm looking forward to the continued maturity of their talents on their next CD.
