Recorded live at The Music Hall, Portsmouth, NH, in December 2002, the CD captures the electricity and spontaneity of this high-voltage, swinging and sophisticated adaptation of Tchaikovsky's fairy tale ballet, The Nutcracker. Innovative and inspired jazz arrangements of the cool classical themes are played by a virtuosic six-piece band and danced by a company of internationally acclaimed tap dancers.
"Clara's Dream, a jazz nutcracker" was created by MaD Theatricals, a company of dancers and musicians led by artistic director Drika Overton. Performed to sold out houses since its premiere in 2000, it is a uniquely American jazz tap celebration.
