JULIA'S BIO
...Julia Macklin is a New York city-based singer-songwriter and guitarist specializing in bittersweet, dreamy pop songs. Actively playing New York and east coast venues in support of her new album HALF WILD, Julia has been a constant in the New York city music arena and has a loyal and devoted fan base. Described as melodic folk-pop, Julia's music is sweet, haunting, and unusual and her lyrics are introspective, dealing with themes of loss, acceptance, restlessness, and longing.
Julia performs live in and around Manhattan with Marina Belica on background vocals (formerly of the band October Project), Whynot Jansveld on bass and vocals, and Ethan Eubanks on drums and vocals, with guest appearances on guitar by Chris Cunningham (guitarist for Katell Keineg, Gavin Friday, Omar Faruk, Susan McKeown and the Chanting House, Marianne Faithfull, Trey Gunn, Boukman Eksperyans, Lori Carson, Hal Willner, Sloan Wainwright, and Marshall Crenshaw).

WHAT PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY ABOUT JULIA
"Julia Macklin has a stunningly sublime ethereal voice. Her voice has a serene, dreamy, quality that makes you feel as if you are floating with the music. Beautiful guitar, beautiful lyrics, and a beautiful voice are Julia Macklin's strengths."

"Folk rock from the outskirts of New York. There Julia Macklin seems to make some incredible music. With her lofty voice tenderly caressing your ears with melodies and songs of love, Julia, the poet songstress, is another great find for Hotstuff... "
-- Rick Seigel, Hotstuff-nyc.com
"Macklin builds her songs around feelings, creating moods that make you feel like you're floating. Yet, beyond these delicate songs lie lyrics that are honest and revealing and sometimes dark."
-- Chris Kornmann, CMJ New Music Report
Live In Studio Interview: Julia Macklin, WCUW, 91.3, Worcester, MA
"...Viewing songs as melodic poetry, Julia frames reflective images with flowing lyrics that draw the listener into the heart of her world. Dreamy harmonies layered over ephemeral instrumentation result in an alluring tapestry of sound. Julia and Marina's harmonies are striking and dramatic. This Series has been running for over three years now and listener response to this morning's show has been one of the strongest. On a New England morning that glowed at sunrise, Julia, Marina, and Tom gave us a thrilling start to our day here in MetroWorcester."
"A wag once said that it is forbidden to listen to Leonard Cohen on a sunny day, and Macklin may evoke similar statements, but dare yourself to try. She's worth the temporary melancholy."
--Robert MacMillan - the Old Town Crier.

"Macklin's delicate music draws from many springs: the British folk-rock of Steeleye Span, the progressive panoramas of Kate Bush and Jane Siberry, the tender, sparkling pop of The Sundays and Elizabeth Fraser's wordless vocalizations. Her five-song debut establishes a dreamy, floating atmosphere and mostly keeps to it, although 'Long Day' offers a refreshing break; my
pick single, it should appeal to Sheryl Crow fans."

Haunting
author: IgnacioBeautiful, melancholic songwriting. I love even the rain on track two. A good company for those nostalgic days.
like a beautiful dance....
author: Julia PlummerWhat a beautiful album! Julia Macklin is immensely talented - I previously bought her second album, Half Wild, and now I see that this first EP is every bit as wonderful. I love the upbeat feel of "Long Day", the lilting, almost haunting, quality of "Nevermind", and the graceful beauty of "Promise". This CD is a treasure!
Soft, beautiful, wonderful
author: Garrett GuillotteOnly five songs, but every one of them more than worth the price of the CD alone. Julia, please, more. More! ^_^ With a steady rain opening and ending the disc, this self-titled EP lifts up and puts down all at once, providing a gorgeous, delicious cross-section of folk colored by tinges of pop and a grain of rock that sways through its peppier tracks. Never Mind, the opener and gem, is the must-play track.
beautiful and ethereal
author: JasonLove this CD! Wish it were longer. Can't wait for the next one.
Brilliant, quiet, unique
author: ScotThis is a short EP but each song on it is a keeper. Julia has a tremendous songwriting gift - not a note or phrase is wasted. I expect wonderful new things from this artist.
