Luis Mangual prcussionist,composer arranger,producer. Many hat's for one person to wear? With the disintrest of major labels not signing new talent to produce and promote. It has created the need for artist to produce their own cd's. We independent's take our own funds to be able to do this. It is hard work and very costly. I guess the love for the music is great. This is my 3rd cd and yet to break even. So it is out of necessity that we wear all these hat's. A means of keeping your cost to a minimum. The Mangual family has been in the business for over 66 yrs. Jose Mangual my dad started his carreer,with Machito and his Afro Cubans in 1941. He went on to record and perform with Charlie Parker,Errol Garner,Tito Puente,Herbie Mann and many more. My brother Jose Jr. was a member of the great Willie Colon Orquestra of the 70's. Was the right hand man who took care of business for the great vocalist Hector Lavoe. Went on to produce his own cd's as a vocalist with great success. The legacy continues with my son Luis Jr. Who plays conga on my previous 2 cd's. As for myself,have played and recorded with various artist. Johnny Pacheco, Celia Cruz,Hector Rivera,Gato Barbierri,Ray Baretto and many more. ARIL EN PARIS is my 3rd cd. I think it is my best. But I will let you be the judge of that. So sit back relax.
