Lovehammers are straight forward in your face rock-n-roll. No smoke no mirrors, just rock.

notes

Lovehammers have carved out their own space in the Chicago music scene by their hard work and dedication to their fans. Described as "The most Un-Pretentious Fuck-You Rock-N-Roll Band," this quartet has done their homework and is a breath of fresh air in this often-stale industry.

Lovehammers have stepped up to put the spark back in modern rock and they've brought their welder's torches with them. It's about time a band has turned up with full guns drawn, ready to delve out some serious rock and roll without skimping on the sex and debauchery that grunge so foolishly discarded. Their latest release Murder on My Mind, which has independently sold over 8,000 copies, encapsulates the Lovehammers' arrival as an act that sweeps aside the mope for pure sweat and energy. Murder collects the best elements of grunge and hard rock with a twist of punk that stems from the pure adrenaline the band possesses. Singer Martin Casey has best been described as a cross between Mick Jagger and Axl Rose, while the Kourelis brothers man the rhythm section with a sex appeal that is reminiscent to the early days of rock-n-roll. At the same time, guitarist Billy Sawichik effortlessly rips through riffs and chords to complete this power quartet.

Their latest sessions with Steve Albini (Nirvana, Bush, Pixies), allowed the band to feel and create their own sound. Starting with a "vibe," their songwriting process is continuously developed by sparking off each other. As on stage, the Lovehammers' music is about creating energy, building up momentum and pushing it in the right direction. In the past few months Lovehammers' music has been featured on television shows, print, and requested for movie soundtracks. "The Tunnel" will be featured in the 2005 Motion Picture "Communication Breakdown," "This Town" has been chosen to be the theme song for the World Shidokan Championships on ESPN, "Let's get Wasted" was heard on the NBC series "Starting Over," and the band can be seen in a Commonwealth Edison regional television commercial, as well as an episode of NBC's "Starting Over." Additionally, Lovehammers have recently been featured on the cover of SOAK Magazine.

The band's perseverance and hard work have gained them several awards such as "Lucky Strike Band to Band Combat" National Contest Winner, featuring them on the back of Rolling Stone Magazine, and were runner up in the John Lennon songwriting contest for "Rain on the Brain," and voted one of the top ten unsigned bands in America by Mars Music.

Continuously selling out shows in Chicago, Lovehammers have also played sold out shows in New York, LA's Viper Room and Whiskey A Go Go. Adding to their Midwest tour, they toured with Nickelback/Jerry Cantrell, and have opened for such national acts as Interpol, Cold, Puddle of Mudd, Tantric, Revis, Alien Ant Farm, Lifehouse, American Hi-Fi, New Found Glory, and Hed PE to name only a few. They have also been invited to play SXSW, MOB Fest, CMJ and Atlantis Music Conference.

"Murder on my Mind", recorded at Smart Studios, was debuted on the following Billboard Charts:

Independent Album Chart
Internet Album Chart
Heat Seekers Chart
East Album Chart
East North Central Album Chart

Just as the 'notes' state, this is an in your face band with the heart and soul of true rock 'n' rollers. L'Strange is a great example of the many facets of musical talent that these guys contain. TRUE musicians, they can rock it hard with the best of them, but also bring it down a notch when it's called for. Will love these guys and this band till the end of time!

L'Strange is a killer album from a killer band. All killer, no filler, L'Strange is solid from the blistering opener "Real Man" to the beautiful acoustic lullaby "Sleeper". "Summertime in the City" and "Undertow" along with "Real Man" are my favorites from L'Strange, but I dig on the entire album. If you find this album, BUY IT, because its getting few and far between as the band skyrockets to stardom. Shouts to my fellow hammerheads from lh.com!!

  • Great release, get it before this indie album disappears!!
    author: Brian

These guys ROCK! Now that they signed with a major label, the whole world will soon be admiring their talent. Like alot of other bands that had indie albums before signing, L'Strange is going to be sought out by fans that are just discovering they had indie roots. Good thing this album won't disappoint.

  • Great CD!!!
    author: ellen

I had heard so many good reviews about L'Strange that I ordered it. I love it!!! Although I enjoy all the songs I really like Throw My Head, Rain On The Brain, and Summertime In The City. Please Lovehammers, come to Hershey, PA!

I purchased this for my daughter, I listened to it! I truly enjoyed it and bought Murder On My Mind also! The LOVEHAMMERS have become one of my favorite bands! I would recommend this to everyone!!

  • AN AWESOME HIT FROM AN AWESOME GROUP!
    author: obxblondie

Every song on this CD is a hit with me and, so it appears, with everyone else! I have all their CDs with the exception of Ultrasound, which I hope the Lovehammers will either re-release or re-record. The songs are superbly well written, both words and music, and awesomely performed! I'll be buying everything they release. Rock On Marty Casey & The Lovehammers!

  • The Lovehammers ROCK! They Hit it!
    author: Wendy

L'Starnge is the first Lovehammers cd recorded, however, it is the seond one I bought. Murder On My Mind is so amazing, and so on the rock mark, that I HAD to get L'Strange. Yeah! Found it here at cdbaby! What a fantastic album and sound. I am totally struck and stunned that I found rock and roll again and can enjoy it the way it was meant to be enjoyed. You will get off on the vocals and the band is awesome and tight. This is one band that will rekindle your love for what was great and moving about music, and what will be the future in the music world. I got tickets to see INXS here in CA. Funny, though, I am NOT going to see INXS, even though I grew up on them and dug the hell outta them, It's The Lovehammers and Marty Casey (that hottie!!!) is who we consider to be the headliners! You'll dig the music-get the cd from cdbaby and ENJOY!

  • No INXS C.D

    author: CHK

L'Strange is a great debut effort from a rockin' band. Songs like "Real Man", "Rain on My Brain" and "Sleeper" get stuck in your head and will quickly make their way to heavy rotation. A great find!

  • Lovehammers are a combination for success- WATCH OUT!
    author: TinyDancer

I have beeen a music junkie for a long time. I eat, sleep breathe and dream music. I also sing. I have over 1,000 CD's. There isn't anything I won't try except for country. Except for my man Johnny Cash. But that's another story for another time. It has been a long time since someone has really made me sit up and say THIS is a work of art! THIS is something people have GOT to hear! L'Strange was like a revelation to my musical senses. I felt like the first time I heard Nirvana.

  • This gets in...
    author: Palari

...under your skin. The songs stay with you, follow you around, hang out in your head. And I love it. I love the way the songs are put together. Lyrically, musically, rhytmically...styley, very styley. I love the way that singing along is a compulsion and I love that dancing is too. This is a classy, energetic and oh so sexy cd. Get it. Seriously.

  • Outstanding
    author: Deborah

I can't get this music out of my head. I'm afraid I'll have to buy another copy because I'm sure wearin' this one out! Chicago's best kept rock and roll secret is a secret no longer and I'm damned glad of it. Everyone needs to hear these guys and the special magic they've created. They are going to be huge!

  • Can't stop playing it!
    author: Wendy

I got the Lovehammers other CD, Murder on my Mind, a few weeks ago and liked it so much, I had to get this one, too. And I like this one even better! It starts with 'Real Man', which is one of the best songs I have heard in years. Great lyrics and great energy. Marty Casey shows an unbelievable amount of musical range on this CD; he can go from a clean, light voice to outrageous intensity in just one song. I love, love, love this CD! This is what rock and roll is supposed to sound like.

  • EXCELLENT....great band, great sound...LOVE IT!!!!
    author: Laura

Love this CD...can't stop listenting to it. Rainin' on my Brain, Bulletholes & Sleeper are the best tunes, but the whole CD is really great. So worth it!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!

  • "Sounds like Lovehammers" - Great CD!
    author: Hammerhead

A truly awesome compilation. And, everybody, don't forget about the track, "Rain on the Brain"! Unpretentious Rock and Roll...from hard driving beats, to deep soul-wrenching melodies. You'll play it again, and again, and again!

  • Sleeper, Summer Time in the City
    author: Tishaspiritgateway

  • Summertime in the City
    author: Tisha spiritgateway

    way cool all around

  • Great CD
    author: Nancy

Just discovered Marty on Rockstar. This CD is fabulous--my favorites are Real Man, Summertime in the City and Sleeper. Real Man could and should be playing on the radio right now.

  • Amazing indie album!
    author: HeartOTexas

Ranges from acoustic Sleeper to sizzling Summer in the City to hard-driving, head-banging Real Man. Great hooks - the songs just keep playing over and over in my head. These guys are so talented and way overdue for fame.

  • EXCELLENT AND AWESOME.... THE LOVEHAMMERS NEVER DISAPPOINT!
    author: Tracy

THE SONGS ON THIS CD ARE GREAT. I HAVE SEVERAL FAVORITES ON THE CD, INCLUDING RAIN ON THE BRAIN, CONFUSION, AND SLEEPER. THE LEAD SINGER, MARTY CASEY, HAS A VOICE I LOVE, AND THE BAND HAS AN AWESOME SOUND. IF YOU LOVE ROCK - YOU'LL LOVE THIS ONE.

  • Loved it - Great Album
    author: Jax

In the most simple terms - I loved it. Would reccommend. Cant wait to get their next Album.

  • AWESOME!!! AWESOME!!! AWESOME!!! Listen!!- L’Strange tracks—--fabulous--rock-sol
    author: Starkey

5+++ Stars-L'Strange Rock&Roll has tantalizing melodics on it--keeps you coming back to hear again and again. Marty Casey --(recently on Rockstar)lead singer's phenomenal voice could melt chocolate in winter with brilliant lyrics; cd also has awesome guitar riffs/chords and life-pulsating ethereal drumbeats. (They can induct the Lovehammers into the R&R Hall of Fame just for this cd as far as I am concerned!)-- L'Strange has everything I ever loved in rock music the past 25+ years (and some pop effect)all rolled into one cd!!!!. If I were to die and could only take 1 cd with me L’Strange would be the one. Just plain enrapturing--rare chemistry sparking off each other - and yet melodic--Best cd/best group I have ever ever heard together and I have heard many (even Pink Floyd live 2 times in their rare appearances).
