LOVE CURSED
The day I discovered the "Love Cursed" phenomenon was a smoggy, sunny day in Hollywood. I had just finished recording the Cherokee version of "Johnny Dream". (track 1 on the disc)
I knew that I wanted the title of the project to do something with love and sorrow... because those emotions have always been my muse. I went for a walk to think it over.
So there I was, walking down Hollywood Blvd, when I came upon a psychic shop. "What the hell"' I thought- "I got a few bucks..."
So I went into the psychic shop and sat down. She read my palm.
"All of your auras are bright, bright white." She said. "And you are going to be extremely successful in business- a milloinaire."
I sat there amused.
"BUT:" she continued, "The aura around your heart is BLACK- black as night. Someone put a curse on you! You are... (dramatic pause) ... love cursed."
I sat there in shock. "What do you mean?" I asked.
"Love has never worked out for you. There is an invisible barrier between your heart and love, and it must be removed."
Now, I want to explain something here~ I want my readers to know that I took her words with a grain of salt. Part of me thought that she probably said this to everyone that walked in off of the blvd... a hoax toget money to take the curse off. But part of me... took it as A SIGN. There really couldn't be a better name for my music. Love Cursed. Ha ha ha. It was a serendipitous thing. It was perfect. It was me.
It wasn't long before I began to realize that the love curse was not just my own. There were LC souls everywhere I looked. The lack of real love today is an epidimec of glorious proportunes, an enigma. Love is out these days. Career and sex are in. Yet everyone believes in and wants love, of course! But WHERE is it?
Is it real? Can it really last forever? Does it really exist? Who are weeeeeee? Should we all just give up and have drunken cheap sex and call it a day? Do YOU know where it is? Can you help? Is there a cure? The hell if I know. At least we know the problem exists. Perhaps that is the first step.
As far as for me and my curse, thank god for my music. And for my bedroom. And to all who understand the love curse. It makes me feel less lonely.

A minor shortcoming is that I would like there to be at least a couple more tracks on the cd, but overall this is a tremendous first album: Stefania is an artist to watch.

Her voice is amazing (she may very well be love cursed but she's definitely vocally blessed), the lyrics touching, the music wonderful and the recording quality impeccable. Killer grooves and spiraling melodies all serve as a lovely framework for Stefania's voice, which is what I dug the most. I heard strains of Chrissie Hynde, Patti Smith and PJ Harvey in it, although ultimately it is her own, and that along with her unfakeable sense of emotion really got the goosebumps going! Girl Friday and Real hit me the hardest, albeit all the tunes kick ass! I dare you try not singing Johnny Dream after you hear it! Stefania could rub shoulders with the likes of Cat Power, PJ Harvey and Kathleen Hanna without shame!
