Outstanding CD
author: SarahA Tribute to The Flutemakers may be my favorite of Jan Michael Looking Wolf's CD's. Its a masterful blend of moods and textures that truly speak from the heart. I've enjoyed this CD so much. Thank you!! :-)
A wonderful album.
author: Adam W.I think it's great that Looking Wolf uses so many different flutes. A Native American flute player myself, it allows me to hear all the different flutes that are out there. I recommend this album to all who love Native American flute music.
simple beauty and peace
author: Touch The CloudsJan Michael's musical journey continues with this gorgeous album. Everything he plays is from the heart, but this one is even more personal than usual. He plays flutes by more than 20 makers on this album. He considers himself very blessed to be associated with the crafters of his flutes. For me, the emotional highlight is "Fallen Elk", a tribute to his uncle Standing Elk.
I like it very much
author: J AtkinsonI like Tribute to the Flute Makers very much. As a flutemaker myself, I was happy that the music focused in a pure sort of way on the sounds of this instrument. I would have liked to see the flutes used listed under the song titles they were used for (Mary Youngblood is always good at that). But the whole CD is a joy to listen to.
Entire family enjoys this CD
author: The Gross Shader Family, Vashon WAOur family had the pleasure of seeing/hearing Jan Michael Looking Wolf perform at a Lewis and Clark commemorative event in November 2005. His flutes were beautiful to look at and to listen to. This CD is exactly what we were hoping for--it is packed full of beautiful flute music with quite a nice variety. Each song is a special experience. Our family, ages 4 to 74, enjoys listening to this inspired music.

If You are Looking for a CD that can inspire You to play the Native American flute, these songs can.The songs on this CD are excellently recorded and produced, giving you a wide range of styles and keys, this CD is also a tribute to The Instrument itself.
Not enough words in my vocabulary to do it justice.
author: Fredrica BergeronLooking Wolf’s music is so beautiful it sends chills along my spine, and brings tears to my eyes. In my 74 years I have heard scores of songs, but nothing to compare with Looking Wolf’s haunting melodies. He is a master flutist, and I hope I can live long enough to hear many more of his wonderful songs. Tribute to the Flute Makers should engender a feeling of pride in the makers of the flutes he plays on the CD, on realizing their instruments are played by such a wonderful artist. His love for his late uncle, Michael Standing Elk, is evident in the song, Fallen Elk, and The Journey Home brings images to mind of Native American struggles to return to their homelands. His music is absolutely mesmerizing.
