NATIVE BLUES:

Description: In this award winning recording, the Native American Flute travels into the areas of blues and jazz-fusion. Vintage guitars, ancient drums, traditional rattles, and a focus on a variety of native flutes blend together, producing heart-moving songs. In the song “Two Hawks”, the Native Flute duels with classic blues guitar. The strong emphasis on the flute and loyalty to the roots of jazz and blues make this a truly original CD.

Wow, I listen to a lot of blues and play a little(very little) NA flute. Hearing how the two can be combined in such a terrific fasion was great. The album stands alone as a fine blues album, the flute is a big bonus!

As someone who has never cared for blues and jazz, I have to admit I never expected to enjoy such music. Jan Michael's brilliant playing of the beautiful Native American flute has certainly changed my mind. I simply love the CD, Native Blues, and I listen to almost every day.

If you are wanting to venture away from mainstream Native American Flute music and listen to some blues, this is the cd for you. The blues beat played on the NAF is an interesting and pleasurable listen.

  • A truly original recording - true to both blues and native flute

Native Blues is the first album to stay true to traditional sound of the native flute and the roots of blues and jazz….simply a work of art. ~Roger McGee, Wind Dancer Flutes
