CONGRATULATIONS TO LOLE FOR WINNING BEST PACIFIC FEMALE ARTIST AT THE PACIFIC ISLAND MUSIC AWARDS HELD IN AUCKLAND NEW ZEALAND 2008 FOR THE ALBUM THE MOVEMENT. GUEST INCLUDED WANYA MORRIS FROM BOYZ 11 MEN and LIVE PERFORMANCES FROM NZ BEST POLYNESIAN ARTISTS. THIS IS LOLES 1ST AWARD AT THIS EVENT AND 2ND AWARD INCLUDING HER NEW ZEALAND MUSIC AWARD TUI FOR MOST PROMISING FEMALE ARTIST 1997.
After leaving her fledging label Papa Pacific/Warners Music label and picked up by Deepgrooves/Festival NZ Lole decided to embarked on her own musical journey where she set up her own label and not willing to conform to industry standards.
She had previously had 5 chart topping songs in NZ Music Charts which earned her a 'NZ Music Award in 1997 for most Promising Female Artist.
Her independantly produced album sold 250,000 copies worldwide throughout the Polynesian communities. A project she says was inspired by her culture and heritage.
She has gone from mainstream to world music and doesnt like being defined in a particular music category.
"It takes away the true meaning of what music is really supposed to be about."
She is recording her 2nd bi-lingual album both in English and Samoan with a style similiar to India Irie & Lauryn Hill. This album was recorded in 5 weeks in a little shanty studio on an island no-ones heard of except when they RECRUIT N.F.L PLAYERS, Samoans are know for their massive physiques strength and athletic ability and music of course.
I always remember where I came from, this album is another stepping stone, to realising my dream and that is to record my first Live Studio Album with musicians who's credits include Lauryn Hill, Jessica Simpson, Billy Joel
which is finally becoming a reality when she leaves her motherland of SAMOA where she was born on a plantation and heads to Los Angeles again this year, to record her 3rd album ' THE STORY TELLER ' - I've paid my dues, i cant wait to record with this awesome musicians.
