notes
LOLA’S CRUSH is a high-energy rock band based out of Seattle, WA, a brother/sister team whose goal is to establish themselves as one of the greatest bands in rock history. Turning rock music on its edge, they’ve made the choice to offer something different. “For me,” says frontwoman and primary lyricist, Christina Lazarakis, “it was really important to have something positive to say, lyrically. To offer hope and a way to rise above conflict, whether that be personal or otherwise. It was not enough for me to bitch about something, but to provide a solution and to empower; to inspire. We do that by not only writing songs that are epic, but by also writing songs that are a hell of a lot of fun”. Musically, Niko Lazarakis, who provides all the instrumentation and plays guitar live, says, “I wanted to create something big and huge sounding, with simple, monster, drop D, highly distorted power chords”. Mixed with Christina’s clean, solid, melodic vocals, that utilize her entire range, she possesses an enormous belt that is both soulful and sick all at the same time. That amalgamation is LOLA’S CRUSH.
Christina and Niko wrote, recorded, mixed, and produced their debut full-length album entirely by themselves, releasing SONIC in May of 2005. Shortly thereafter, they were awarded Best Female Vocals in Modern Rock four weeks in a row and Best Bass in Modern Rock for one, in Garageband.com’s Reviewers’ Picks Awards. They have received airplay on college and high school radio stations up and down the West Coast, including KLC, KGRG, KEOL, KSUB, KCWU, KZCS, KVHS, and KCSS; making Loud Rock Charts on KUPS. In addition, they have also received airplay on internet radio stations NetteRadio.com and CyberstormRadio.com’s, Metaltron. Internationally, LOLA’S CRUSH and their release, SONIC, have received multiple press on Sacchibros.com, a popular motocross website in France, and “Believe” and “Time to Ride” (tracks off of SONIC) were exclusively featured on the Sacchi Bros. French Junior Motocross Championship video in September of 2006. LOLA'S CRUSH has played such Seattle venues as the El Corazón and Studio Seven, Tacoma's Hell's Kitchen, and Bellingham's Rogue Hero. They have shared the stage with such bands as Truce, Dating Delilah, Deadstar Assembly, The Blakes, Scarlet Room, and former Maverick recording artists, Onesidezero.
