  • Chris is Awsome
    author: D.Terry

Wow.. Chris has done it again! First with the Tracers and now on his own. I knew from the moment I heard this guy sing he was destined to be a household name. The only complaint I have is the drummer was kinda boring, needs more straight eight note fills, one has to wonder what happened to that kick-A auxiliary percussion player they use to have towards the end days of the Tracers. Man that guy could rock! Live on Tracers and Look out world cause here comes Chris Loggins!!

  • why can't I live in Eldorado ?

CD's in general are lacking substance, originality and any kind of been there done that experiences from the heart and soul. This collection of songs grabs you and will not let you go. The musicians seem to have experiened the songs themselves. Straight from the heart. Looking forward to future projects. Oh, by the way, let Hokie do some pedal steel, he did some killer stuff for me years ago. P S Tell Hokie that Chalbert, Pegbert and all the Berts said hello,we love you and miss you.

  • I Can't Believe It!!!

I've known Chris since I was born (well, almost)...I didn't even know he had this great of a talent. I'm very impressed by him and the rest of the gang. Beautiful voice and the songs were very heartfelt and touching. Mark Toombs is also a great drummer (and a friend of mine) so that adds more to the great talents encompassed in this band. Great job, Chris! You need to come to Little Rock and let me promote you to a few places! :) Love ya! ~Mandi Merritt

Chris Loggins-Thirty Years. Artist: Chris Loggins CD: Thirty Years 5 Star Rating: ****4 Stars! It's sort of a predicament when you attempt to classify the work of singer/songwriter, Chris Loggins. Americana, Roots/Blues, Rock? Your guess is as good as mine! I do know this...this fine young lyricist puts out very good music. For this offering, he enlisted the help of several talented musicians, and though I've heard Chris perform as a solo, in a duo, as well as many different configurations at jams...this is the first time I've seen what he can do with a competent band behind him. The backing musicians on this CD are solid performers, and it certainly shows in the final product. Hokie Gjertsen, on guitar, Mark Toombs with drums, Monroe Hill on Bass, and Brett Traylor on keyboards & pedal steel, did an excellent job. Micky Davis also contributed on Cello. The Brass Tacks, as they called themselves for this endeavor, rounded out & enriched the typical "Loggins" sound. The selections run the gamut of styles... with Dust, Miracle & Three Days hovering somewhere between Americana/Country and Blues/Rock...intoxicating rythm work & powerful vocals. Brass Tacks is a straight out burner from the word go, hailing back to a simpler style of rock. Creatures, is pure country complete with pedal steel, while Hoffman is taken from Loggins' experiences in California and has a campy, light-hearted feel to it. Bee, Satori, and Exile, are offerings of a different sort, displaying the tender, contemplative, and introspective aspects of this songwriter while showing his ability to delve into various areas of the human condition. The lyrics are nothing short of amazing, showing traces of influence from Dylan, Waites, Dixon, and even Johnny Cash. Loggins seems to meld them all together, and the end result is satisfying, to say the least. There are layers to this young man, and despite his age...an "old" soul within him. He has the uncanny ability to "connect" with his audiences on an emotional level and that echoes in his recordings as well. His first offering consisted of acoustic covers & originals, and while it certainly was good...Thirty Years shows a maturation and growth that is remarkable when compared to his earlier songs. A good outing for Chris Loggins on this one...I give it 4 Stars simply because I believe we haven't seen the last, nor the best, from this artist!

  • I have listened to it now for 3 months and am not tired of it yet!!!!
