A fresh new voice in the Twin Cities. Their original music fuses the improvisation of jazz, the structure of popular music, and an acute sense of group interplay. They draw their influence from artists such as Thelonious Monk, D'Angelo.

notes
In spring, 2008, Vintage Guitar Magazine reviewed this album noting, "Loe and the Nastys deal in music that isn't popular with young folks anymore; equal parts jazz, Jobim-influenced Latin music, and even a little Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks, this quartet has a smokey sound that evokes a feeling as cool as the other side of the bed."
That same year, the internationally renowned Dakota Jazz Club described Loe & the Nastys as a young group that "plays pop and soul that’s sweet, smart, and a whole lot of fun."
Loe & the Nastys is a fresh new voice in the Twin Cities. Their original music fuses the improvisation of jazz, the structure of popular music, and an acute sense of group interplay. They draw their influence from artists such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Jill Scott, and Erykah Badu. The group performs around the Twin Cities at Cafe Maude, Rossi's Blue Star room, and the nationally and internationally renowned Dakota Jazz Club. In April, their tunes were featured on youtube.com. Three months later, their music was highlighted in Yahoo! News as soundtracks for visual artist Phil Hansen. In January 2008, Loe & the Nastys produced this full length CD and was named Editor's Pick on CD Baby.com. Currently, the group is performing monthly and creating a second album.

Loe & the Nastys
author: Alyce BuntonHey you guys, your music is fantastic. I'm from Australia and just recently toured America. I heard your music online when I got back and ordered it. Feels like I've got my very own piece of San Francisco. Awesome stuff. I love listening to it while painting...

Loe & The Nasty's
author: Jason WynnI found this album while using the search "sounds like Carla Bruni" on Myspace. The music is so calm that I could listen for hours. I ended up sending the CD to friends in Mongolia for Christmas and now I'm going to have to order another. They should definitely find a way to get more publicity, and come play down south. Atlanta would love them!
EXCELLENT, but...
author: GPExcellent!!! Best new album I've heard in years. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys jazz/lounge. Why only 3 stars? It's an average. The album gets 5 stars easily, but the CD itself gets disappointing 1. The homemade CD came with a surface-label which doesn't play in my car stereo. Also, the CD came in a slim case with cover art that is too small, so it just slides around and falls out. For those who only listen to MP3's, they wouldn't care, but for those of us with a shelf of CD's, a standard jewel case with a minimum of the band-album name on the side is a must. Obviously, their efforts went towards great music as opposed to professional packaging, so at least they have their priorities straight. But both would have been nice.

author: RykoEverytime I've seen Loe and the Nasty's it's been a great show, although they never play freebird when I yell it out...
Love this jazzy/groovy music!
author: SarahI also heard this group from a Phil Hansen video. I immediately found out who they were and BEGGED my husband to get the CD. We love it!! We put it on to relax in the evenings, and after taking care of 4 boys, it really helps us unwind. My favorite song is Every Toe. I sing parts of it to my 5 month old son. Our family is awaiting their next creation.
Fantastic Low Key Music
author: anna stacholyI first heard this group on a video which featured artist Phil Hansen. The music was so moving that I emailed him for the artist name and he directed me to their MySpace page. The entire CD is great, especially when you are feeling mellow, but Penny Waltz remains my favorite song.
sweet disc
author: Angela Leungnice & some kinda groovy... cd case was "authentically distressed" :) Gotta cross the border for a show sometime!
