notes
With this, her first CD, “L” (Lena Lukina) has ventured into previously uncharted waters, at least for her. It is a nearly solo effort, writing the lyrics, composing the music, arranging and performing both instrumentation and vocals; it was a journey well worth the taking.
“L” was born on the Lena River in central Siberia, in the magical land of Yakutia. She is a beautiful blend of Russian and Yakutian family lines. Coming from a fairly large family, Lena was probably the most fortunate, being the youngest.
When she was nine years old, she moved to St. Petersburg, Russia to study classical music, and that is where the story begins. She was, after all, a product of the 80’s, immersed not only in the world of Mozart and Bach, but also in a strange and wonderful mix of American Jazz and European Pop.
Now she makes her home in Alaska, passing on the tradition of music to her students. The beauty of her surroundings was the inspiration for this collection. She takes you on a trip back to a simpler time, of love and nostalgia, and memories of the people and the places in her past. Using a kaleidoscope of easy-listening styles, she leaves you feeling at home.
We leave it to you to decide for yourself, whether, like her, the journey was worth taking. Email address: lukle@mail.ru.

Loved it, bought it at Barnes&Noble, didn't know it's less expensive on this site. Reminded me of soundracks to 70s Russian movies. Very nostalgic.
