notes
The Livingstons were formed in fall of 1997 by drummer Alex Gomez (formerly of US Bombs) and Guitar player, Vocalist Michael Livingston while they were both playing in the infamous LA junk rock band the Mau-Maus (Which Mike had joined in 1979). Soon tiring of problems with the Mau-Mau’s they decided to bail out and start the Livingstons. They recruited former Dickies bassist Charlie Alexander and began playing gigs at local venues such as Al’s Bar and Bar Deluxe. They recorded a seven-song demo in their rehearsal studio located in the Produce Terminal off of the Alameda corridor. A song from this recording (Culture is like a knife) was included in the second ‘Old Skars and Upstarts compilation released by Hunns, US Bombs Vocalist Duane Peters. Mike Culture replaced Charlie in the summer of 2002 as Bassist. They continued to play locally and appeared at shows with 70’s Punk Rock luminaries like The Vibrators, The Skulls, Agent Orange & Cadillac Tramps. Their sound has been described as Rock n’ Roll extremely rooted in all it’s purer traditions, Rockabilly, old style Country, Punk Rock and the roots of Surf.

This CD was definitely worth buying.
author: Carrie DonovanI bought this CD based on the track "Just Having Fun" and thankfully, the rest of the CD lived up to my expectations. It's one of those CDs you want to hear the whole thing and not just jump to particular songs. Great energy!
