Lisa Layne was born in Tyler, Texas and at the early age of three moved to Dallas. She began singing professionally at the tender age of four. She worked shows with her Dad, who is a professional musician, on and off through her school years.

Lisa formed her first band, just after high school. She was the lead vocalist and played Bass Guitar in the band. This ultimately led to her being noticed by a local band, Vince Vance and The Valiants, which had had a taste of some major success. Lisa worked the road with them for the better part of five years. During that time they recorded the song "All I Want For Christmas Is You". Yes, Lisa is the featured vocalist on that recording. As of this writing,
"All I Want For Christmas Is You"
(sung by Lisa Layne) is now recognized as the #7 Christmas song of all time.

With the success of "All I Want For Christmas Is You" Lisa moved to Nashville. In Nashville she joined a very successful Beach Music Band and toured with them until 1995. In early '95 Lisa won the role of Patsy Cline in the first National Tour of a "Closer Walk with Patsy Cline" She toured with that tour for the better part of two years before she joined the Nashville troupe as the lead in that same show. She performed at the Texas Troubadour Theater in Nashville doing the Patsy show from '98 thru 2000.

When it comes to singing a Patsy Cline song, NOBODY can touch Lisa Layne. She has the gift. If you close your eyes and listen you can feel Patsy's presence as Lisa sings. It's an awesome experience.

Lisa has appeared on stage with: Miami Sound Stage, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Hall and Oates, Julio Iglesias, Little Eva, Larry Gatlin, Fats Domino, Chicago, Mel McDaniel, Jimmy C. Newman and Johnny Russell to name just a few. She is without question a seasoned performer and a true professional. There is not a finer voice in Country Music.

    I bought this CD at the gift shop at the Medora (ND) musical after I fell in love with her voice listening to her entertain in person, and I am so glad I did! There's not a bad cut on it. I like the mix of old and new, she does a great job on all of them. Can't wait to hear more from her!

    Great CD (almost called it an album - for the younger generation thats a 12 inch cd on black plastic with songs on both sides). Lisa's voice is so clear and hits every note perfectly. I really enjoyed the story in - It's Just a Rock.

    Another great CD by Lisa, and the backup (vocal and instrumental)is perfect.... really superb arrangements and the voice is the best. Sings me back home ... especially love One Man's Opinion and Dreamer as well as Invitation to the Blues.... are America's DJ's asleep or what? ... this is a sin that Lisa doesn't get the play time that she deserves ...get her back in the studio so I can spend some more money ....if it was vinyl it'd be worn out !

    A great CD I have a had for a few years. I found mine at a show that Lisa was in, in Nashville's, Nasvhille Nightlife. There is a great mix of country and pop tunes. Love He Called Me Baby and Pride are a couple favorites. She tends choose songs by legandary songwriters like Harlin Howard. Lisa has a great set of vocal chords and she is accompanied by some great musicians some that I know. Looking forward to receiving the others.

    What can one say about an artist like Lisa Layne? She's so well known around the country music scene. This album is mostly covers, but they are performed so well that they sound new all over again. You couldn't hardly ask for a better selection of country song writers. I mean when you've got songs by people like Harlan Howard, Roger Miller, Bob Montgomery and Eddy Arnold, you just aren't going to get any more "traditional country" than that. This is an album where a country fan like me really has a hard time trying to pick out "favorite songs" because these are all so well known and well loved. But I guess the first on my own list would be "Invitation To The Blues" because I just simply love that song, plus, Lisa sings the heck out of it. Following that would be "It's Just A Rock", "Misty Blue", "Wake-up Call", and "He Called Me Baby." It's a fine collection of great songs!!

    What a thrill it is to discover the fabulous voice of Lisa Layne! Every song on Shades of Blue is a winner! I can't even pick a favorite because I love them all! You Don't Own Me is one of my all time favorite songs and Lisa's version is the BEST! And the way she sings He Called Me Baby almost makes you forget Patsy Cline! Do yourself a favor and BUY THIS CD immediately. And then tell everyone you know to buy it too! You won't be sorry! I'm going to wear this CD out playing it over and over again!
