notes
“I have chosen the title for this album, ‘Music Facing Inward’, to suggest a different listening approach to the traditional perspective of Franz Liszt’s music as mere displays of extroverted technical virtuosity. The compositions strike chords deep inside of me. In Widmung and Liebestraum I sense seriously intimate and joyous proclamations of love. In Un Sospiro I’m moved by the response of lilting harp tones. In St. Francis I am inspired by the depiction of his unwavering, deeply rooted inner faith and strength. I feel a different tone in Funérailles, the profound grief and ultimate freedom that comes from the acceptance of death. In Fountains I celebrate the passionate appreciation of nature and creativity.
I invite you to face inward as you listen to these wondrously rich and touching masterpieces.” --Lisa
