This once buried treasure has been unearthed, finished and released by Out of Sight Music, Inc. And now, fans of old and new fans-to-be can hear Hampton at his best on “There Will Never Be Another You.”

The story of how this recording came to be is a captivating one and is told on a historical DVD paired with the CD. It’s an all new, never before heard studio recording and never released DVD footage.

The 13-song recording includes title tribute song “There Will Never Be Another You,” along with instrumentals featuring Hampton’s masterful performances in “Cookin' in the Kitchen” (aka “Jumpin' At the Mudhole”) Beulah’s Boogie,” “It Might as Well be Spring,” “Redtop” and “Someday.”

Interspersed are four new songs featuring Bennett’s smooth and sexy blues side and enchanting upswing style complementing Lionel all the way. An innovative twist on standard “Bill Bailey” takes Hampton and Bennett into a delightfully different version. Lionel also shows you can teach an old dog new tricks as he grooves on a dance mix of “You Make My Heart Sing.” The jazz great also gets in his famous signature rapid two-finger piano playing in on a few numbers.

“There Will Never Be Another You” is the second album Hampton and Bennett recorded together. The first, “Sentimental Journey” on Atlantic Records was nominated for a Grammy.

This final work together is a tribute by Bennett to Hampton that showcases the beautiful blend of musical talents and a unique and cherished friendship. With the CD/DVD the world gets another glimpse of musical great Lionel Hampton. He should never be forgotten.

    WOW, what a tribute to Lionel! It's classic Hamp plus a newer sound on a few tracks. Love it! Singer Sylvia Bennett is outstanding. Her voice is absolutely beautiful!

    GRANDISSIMO CD!!!!!!!!!! WOW... non conoscevo Lionel Hampton... SUPERBO!! Jazz fantastico. 13 tracce una piu' bella dell'altra. Nelle 6 tracce strumentali il vibrafono di Lionel la fa da padrone.     I recently purchased “There Will Never Be Another You” by Lionel Hampton featuring Sylvia Bennett . . . what an appropriate title for one of the greatest jazz musicians of all time . . . Lionel’s vibe playing on this album is unlike anything I have heard from him before . . . talk about unprecedented . . . there is only one word for this album . . . brilliant! But it is impossible to acknowledge Lionel’s achievements without mentioning the sweet vocal contributions of the magnificently talented Sylvia Bennett! Lionel and Sylvia have teamed up before on their Grammy nominated album “Sentimental Journey” . . . if you want to take another profound jazz journey with this duo, I highly recommend this new CD . . . I promise you will be blown away by these big band/pop jazz tracks on this never before released CD. In addition, there is a DVD included which gives amazing footage of not only the behind-the-scenes making of this album, but also captures the respect and admiration these two friends had for one another and the music they created!

    Trust me, you will be listening to this in your car, on your home system, and on your MP3! Buy this. Some of Hamp's best later-work, and Sylvia Bennett is at her very finest. What a great stylist, and her counterpoint to Hamp's mallets is something to hear! And Hal Batt, the producer, just has a knack for what works to the supreme, on this CD. His re-mix of the last track (You Make My Heart Sing) is just masterful. Tight, and it will make you MOVE. Hamp is also quite personal on this track. The "sauce" is the DVD that they made during the recording session. VERY RARE. Touching and very introspective. Listen to it. Then watch it.

    I have truly enjoyed listening to this CD in my car. Sylvia Bennett has a beautiful voice. Lionel Hampton did great instrumentals. The album comes with a DVD telling and showing the background to the relationship between these two great artists, how they made their music, where they performed together, etc. My husband and I found it to be most interesting. Add it to your cart--you'll be glad you did!
