Hi there. Here’s my story! A number of years ago at the tender age of 6, my mom handed me a loud, weezy, sparkly thing...it was an accordion. A few tear-stained years later I heard my mom & dad’s friend, “Rhodes Bent” (I’m not kidding) play a Hank Williams tune on the guitar - I was hooked. Thanks mom & dad!
While raising my daughter Pam, I played with Easy Money, Herald Nix, Bolero Lava, & fronted my own band, Terminal City. Then Spirit of the West asked me to join so I quit my day job & spent eight years on the road, earned 2 platinum, 3 gold records & travelled all over Canada, Europe & the US. We sure had some great times! All the while I was writing my own songs which harkened back to the fiddles & pedal steels I’d heard in my parents basement. It was time for me to take the plunge and I played my “farewell” show with Spirit on New Year’s Eve 1997.
Six months later with help from FACTOR, producer Colin Linden, and some of my friends including Pam, Gurf Morlix, Syd Straw, members of Blue Rodeo, Tragically Hip, and The Band I released my first solo c.d. “Flying Jenny” on Stony Plain Records. The title track is the story my “faves” The Louvin Brothers.
Here it is my 2nd cd! Linda McRae & Cheerful Lonesome “Cryin’ Out Loud” Black Hen Music. Gurf Morlix (Lucinda Williams, Robert Earl Keen, Tom Russell, & Mary Gauthier) produced this one. This one is even more of a tip of the hat to my roots. We’re extremely excited about this release and we sure hope it will remain on your cd player for years to come.!
