Community Service
author: J. AllenIn many ways, the whole concept behind TRU-TALENT Entertainment and Lil Old C’s career in rap is community service. Of course, we all hope for the recognition of my son’s talent, but we also hope that we are reaching young and old alike with our positive and motivational raps. Since rap has meant so much in my life, I have always been anxious to share this with others in my community and beyond. This message has certainly been received by CJ. His suggestions for songs and his belief that rap can help his peers to learn and to grow is evidence of this fact. It is also evident that his peers are receptive to his messages every time he walks out on the stage and they go wild. In general, my wife and I have endeavored to impress upon CJ, and all our children, the importance of sharing. From a very young age they have had to go through their toy box periodically and give away toys and games. This has translated into CJ’s eagerness and willingness to share his talent with groups and individuals without thought of compensation. CJ’s annual performance schedule regularly includes talent showcases and fundraisers for local and national charities. Among them, Deen’s Day Festivals, Stand for Children, Hope for Kids, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Hampton Roads, to name a few. As mentioned in the Quality of Performance essay, CJ has also performed for the March of Dimes “Walk-America,” Farm Fresh Supermarkets Extravaganza, and The Child’s Fair, Kid’s Expo. It is probably his opportunity to share in the series of Standards of Learning (SOL) Rally’s at local elementary schools that gives CJ the most joy. A good student himself, CJ is eager to help his fellow classmates excel. He readily assists them in the classroom, but in the “SOL Rally’s” or pep rally’s he is able to reach a broader range of his peers and to encourage them study and to do their best. Lil’Old C is a positive, cool-kid, honor student, role model- rap artist! What a combination. When Lil’Old C steps on stage, the kids light up! They’re dancing to the beat, but when they learn the words…they’re learning positive messages. “Never too Young!” (To be successful), “My Life” (I want to show everybody what a kid can do!) “Lil’ Superstar! (No matter who you are you’re a superstar!) Lil’Old C is doing his part to improve the community by reaching thousands of kids at a time. The bigger Lil’Old C becomes, the bigger the crowd, the more we reach!

The meaning behind "TRU-TALENT"
author: Carl Parker, Sr."TRU-TALENT" See him dance see him sing, see the crowds reaction as he does his thing. So talented yet so young, as if he were born to music and raised as it's son. The confidence the control, the memory of a thousand megabytes the shine of pure gold. One in a decade such a child is sent to thee, and this is that child "Lil'Old C." Lil'Old C produces second CD---Song "I Love School" A Hit!
author: Ann Stephens / Hampton City Schools reportIn the music world he's known as "Lil'Old C" - a hip-hop artist/ rapper who steers clear of gangsta rap or any "bling bling." His cleanm wholesome lyrics are both rhythmic and exciting, and his latest CD entitled "A Kids Life" is definitely on the fast track. To the students at Burbank Elementary School who attend classes with him, he's known as Carl Parker, jr. This 10-yr-old honor student has performed for not only his classmates, the March of Dimes Walk- America Fundraiser and the annual 'Deen Day celebration, but he's also appeared on the nationally televised Jenny Jones Show as well as local television stations. And he's currently in the process of doing an East Coast tour to promote his new CD. However, once kids hear his positive messages, such as the ones he espouses in his hit song "I Love School," that's all the promotion needed! This little superstar with loads of personality and the cutest smile imaginable, really does love school- excelling in all academic areas, mastering both sign language and spanish, and even putting the finishing touches on his first book of poetry entitled "Expressions" which is scheduled for release next summer. So is it all work and no play? Not hardly, as Lil'Old c also is a talented martial artist who has taken top awards at competitions including the World Fall Classic Karate Tournament and the Battle of Hampton Roads Karate Tournament. His father and producer, W. Carl Parker, has been the guiding influence in Lil'Old C's life. He beams with pride when he speaks of his son's acceptance of the family's rule to "Keep it clean and positive." As a long-time Hampton School board mamber "Butch" Harper puts it= "This kid is a role model for all kids- he's a talented rapper who's clean, energetic and #1 in my book!"
Hampton Rapper has G-rated fun
author: Dailypress newspaper/ sam mcdonaldNew CD showcases Lil'Old C's gifts for lyrics, delivery. It showcases the 10 yr. old's gift for both lyrics and streetwise delivery. A good example is "Up and coming" which describes some of young parker's favorite activities. "watch a little tv some of the time, paly a little b-ball some of the time, do a little karate some of the time, between that and home work I still write rhymes." On "Something about U" the little rapper describes a case of puppy love. Then there's the self explanatory "I Love school," on which C details his love for math, english, reading and history, spanish, and art and physical education. "Every now and then we have to take a test, but I ain't mad because I always do my best," he says.
