notes

The debut CD/EP of Lil' Keesha is a collection of 6 songs that showcases the phenomenal vocal abilities (4+ octaves) of Lil' Keesha, a teenage, senior high school honor student, the CD is titled, -- 'The PRODIGY'.

She recently landed a guest starring role on the long running CBS award-winning, daytime drama series The Bold & The Beautiful, (most watched worldwide: 140 countries, 135 million daily viewers), singing a song from her debut CD, the song is titled, "Heaven Knows", and was written by former Michael Jackson producer and musical director, Samm Brown III. The episode will air Monday, July 30, 2007, 12:30 pm (PST). Check your local listings for time and channel.

The CD opens with a remake of the 1978 Oscar and Grammy Award winning song 'Last Dance', which was a #1 hit for disco diva Donna Summer.

A music critic from The Atlanta Rhythm Times had this to say:

"The first single from teenage Lil' Keesha’s appropriately titled EP: 'The PRODIGY' is 'LAST DANCE', (3:17 Radio Edit). The 1978 Oscar and Grammy Award winning #1 song originally sung by dance diva Donna Summer was written by Paul Jabara, and is ably produced by Samm Brown III, (Michael Jackson, Maxine Nightingale).

This version of the pop/dance classic is true to the original, but that’s where the similarities between this 2006 remake and the 1978 original end.

Lil' Keesha’s explosive 4 plus octave range is on full display here and is shown in the opening 2 bar riff that shadows the original but then repeats full out, an octave higher. From there it is a hellacious, fun romp with her vocal pyrotechnics leading the way. The song ends with her incredible voice soaring in a dramatic glissando to an octave higher than the Summer original. You’ll be shaking your head in disbelief. You’ll just have to hear it to believe it!"

The rest of the CD:

2. 'Anxious' is an original song that is an interior thought balloon of a young girl who is sprung for a guy her girlfriend introduces her to -- yet she doesn't want to look too 'Anxious', so she plays hard to get.

3. 'Heaven Knows', recently sung in a guest starring role in an episode of the long-running, award winning CBS-TV daytime drama, The Bold & The Beautiful. It is a deliciously melodic ballad sung in the classic tradition of Mariah Carey, and Celine Dion. The song is a tear-jerker that shows off Lil' Keesha's legitimate 4 octave range.

4. On the infectious '(U Drive Me) Crazy', Lil' Keesha is joined by up-and-coming rapper T.H.U.M.P. who represents the not always reliable, sometimes exasperating boyfriend, who frequently stands her up but then says -- he's in love with her. She can't seem to break away from his...smile and a wink of (his) eye...mainly because she's in love too. It drives her so crazy!!

5. & 6. The beautiful 'In The Corner Of My Eye', and the cleverly arranged (a cappella) medley of 'When You Wish Upon A Star' and 'Over The Rainbow', round out the CD/EP by underscoring the statement made by drive time DJ Jason Endicott, of KHTS 1220 am radio, who after hearing her at a station sponsored vocal talent contest (which of course she won), said: "Lil’ Keesha raises the bar for all new singers everywhere!" All we can add is Amen.

“….She’s a teenage Mariah Carey who can hit all the high notes and she can dance...America's best new Pop Idol!”
(KSCI/LATV-18’s Jannelle So)

"Her range is jaw-dropping...and (she) will be heard from for years and years to come."
(Eric Cohen, Program Director, WAER, Syracuse, New York)

"I like....Lil' Keesha's version of Last Dance BETTER than Donna Summer's! I'm adding Last Dance right now!"
(Mike Roberts, Radio Program Director, LiteFavorites.com)

“…A voice like Lil’Keesha’s comes along once in a lifetime…”
(Jerry Heller, former manager: Elton John, Marvin Gaye, Journey, WAR, N.W.A. co-founder/CEO Ruthless Records)

“Lil’ Keesha raises the bar for all new singers everywhere….”
(DJ Jason Endicott, KHTS 1220 am radio drive time personality)

Only Heaven Knows perks up hope for the love that seems to be hopeless. It gives the heart joyful hope that love goes on though direction may not be clear to the human mind. This song makes the heart grow fonder.

Unbelievably awesome voice for a 15 year old girl. Yet it is real, undeniably magical. In fact, it's not just the music that would touch your heart - the words of the music makes you fall in love with love, with the music, with the song, and the singer.
