notes
Phillip Lester is a classical guitarist with a style reminisent of Christopher Parkening. He has been performing , arranging and composing for solo guitar for over 20 years.
American Treasures is his collection of inspirational renditions of early American ballads and songs of patriotism performed on classical guitar. From "America , My Country Tis of Thee" to the "Battle Hymn of the Republic", the CD contains 70 minutes of beautiful classic melodies reminding us of the greatness surrounding our country. The collection was designed to stir up feelings of patriotism and serve as a tribute to the men and women who helped to obtain and preserve our American freedoms.
The music is arranged for solo instrumental guitar in a melodic and meditative style. The liner notes provide historical information on both, the songs and the price paid for our freedoms. The notes combined with the music will help both young and old renew a deeper appreciation for our great nation. America was born and has been presevered through the selfless sacrifice of individuals willing to lay down their lives to obtain freedom for others and with God's help will continue to do so.
Historically, in times of war and hardship, patriotic music has played a significant role in building morale. At this time in our nation1s history, it is his hope that this music will encourage, increase morale, and comfort listeners everywhere
"You've definitely captured the spirit of patriotism in your music that our country is so desperately grasping onto right now. I do believe that God set this exact time for you to refresh our weary hearts and souls and I know that your music will continue to spur us on in days to come. Thank you for persevering in your work over the years to bring this
to completion in such a time as this." -- Pat Mulanne
"We listened to the new American Treasures this morning while doing the Sunday paper thing and it is a gem!..... The recording is impeccable-nice and crisp and clean, and your playing is superb."
Tim Blixt - Wayne NJ
³This is one of the nicest guitar albums I¹ve ever heard. You honor these great melodies with sensitive, soulful playng."

Beautiful, relaxing, wonderful

Nostalgically beautiful.
author: Catherine McShaneThis a beautiful and thoughtfully produced collection of American tunes performed on solo guitar. As a American living outside of the country I find it is just what I need when I am feeling homesick.
This collection is my favorite set of instrumental patriotic songs.
author: Geoffrey WayI play guitar myself and really appreciate the richness of each arrangement in this collection. I never get tired of listening to it, and everyone who hears it wants to know where they can get a copy!
