notes

With this CD, which was up for GRAMMY nomination in 2008, Lenore has achieved what artist's strive to do on a live recording...create energy that is heard throughout the CD. In addition to a wonderful sound recording, the trio is swinging and tight throughout.

Lenore Raphael is a busy touring and performing jazz pianist, composer, educator and concert producer.

She has been working in the jazz world since the mid '80s and is finally making a name world-wide for her swinging and passionate piano style.

The word "passionate" has been used many times to describe her intense emotional approach to every song she plays, as early on she learned from piano great Ellis Larkins, to always "tell the story", which she does admirably.

The word "swinging" is always used becaause that's what she does. She says "As Ellington said It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing'.

Notable performances for her include twice at Jazz At Lincoln Center in the Women In Jazz Festival and once for a week-long stay there.

She was a featured performer on the S.S. Oosterdam Jazz Cruise, had standing room only audiences at jazz venues around the country. She has had standing ovations at The ETSU Fall Jazz Concert, Jazz In The Sangres festival, Gainesville Jazz & Blues festival, East Coast Jazz Festival, St. Michael's Theater (NYC),Steinway Jazz Showcase (Scottsdale, AZ)and many more.
She has played and will perform at some of the best jazz clubs such as Birdland (NYC),Arturo Sandoval Jazz Club (Miami Beach), Dazzle (Denver),Vibrato (LA), The Jazz Corner (Hilton Head SC) and many more.

She headlines the Women In Jazz concert at Florida Atlantic University this year, and also the TriCities Jazz Festival in Johnson City, TN where she opens for Ed Shaunnessy and the Tonight Show All Stars.

Lenore is also a busy advocate for jazz education and an Outreach Artist for the International Association for Jazz Education. She has done jazz workshops around the country including the Orange County performing Arts Center, Colorado Springs Conservatory, East High School (Denver), Florida Atlantic Univsersity, Arapahoe HS (Littleton, CO) and many more.

Along the way she has performed with some jazz greats..Al Grey, Clark Terry, Harry Allen, John Pizzarelli, Marlene VerPlance, and others.

Lenore Raphael is one of my favorite people and favorite pianist. Her use of space is very knowing and her style is swingin' and soulful. I only wish I could have been at this concert live, but lucky for us it's captured on this CD. Maxx Myrick Real Jazz XM 70 XM Satellite Radio
