Who knew that a guitar, a web cam, and an internet connection could lead to a career change?
Leesha had played music for years in a variety of venues but never considered it more than a hobby. But in 2007, on a whim, she started posting videos of her singing her original songs on YouTube. Within months, her videos were receiving thousands of hits, and fans were asking, “Where can I buy the CD?”
Soon Leesha took her guitar out of the spare bedroom and into live gigs, quickly gaining local fans that were delighted to find her online videos. Again, they asked, “Where’s the CD?”
Hence, “Penny in the Pocket”—Leesha’s debut release—was born. Featuring full studio versions of 12 original songs, as well as a bonus spoken track, the album is sure to delight old fans and win new ones as well. Her thoughtful lyrics show a surprising depth of insight into the human condition, and her melodies range from toe-tapping grooves to goose-bump inducing ballads. “Penny in the Pocket” is one album you don’t want to miss.

Twenty years from now, people will listen to this CD, as today we listen to Joni Mitchell's - Blue and Carol King's - Tapestry. Still unable to pick our favorite song. As Patty Griffin is an angel come to earth to soothe our souls, Leesha is the heir apparent. Do yourself a favor and buy it!

author: Gary AkgulianThis is a great CD with no fillers. I stumbled onto Leesha while searching for Dar Williams (she has a Dar Williams cover on You Tube) and was instantly hooked on her music. I also enjoyed her entertaining "conversation" before playing the song. Songs have depth and are not your basic love song or break up song. Buy and enjoy!

Leesha is a true singer songwriter. This cd has no low points it is truely heartfelt package. The lyrics are amasing. The music is great. The voice is perfectly matched to give the life to her songs.

I should have ordered two though. I loaned my copy out and now its making its way through all my friends. I sure hope I get it back. Great job Leesha. Cant wait for whats next.
I Never Get Tired of It

A Penny Well Spent
author: Sven IglesiasI live in Spain and UPS delivered it. An amazing record containing great folk-oriented acoustic songs. Leesha's singing is perfect for this style of music. I discovered her songs via YouTube and my favorite are "Don't Hold It Against Me" & "Runyararo". What a great buy!
Eine Entdeckung

Aufgrund vieler verständlicherweise sehr positiver Rückmeldungen entschloss sich die Songwriterin aus Nebraska zur Aufnahme der vorliegenden CD. Zu diesem Schritt kann man ihr nur gratulieren, es handelt sich um das sehr ansprechende Debütalbum eines großen musikalischen Talents. Auch wenn vielleicht an einigen Stellen ein erfahrener Produzent gefehlt hat, so zeichnet sich jeder Song des Albums durch wunderschöne, sehr eingängige, aber niemals platte Melodien und durch wirklich lesenswerte Texte aus; persönliche Anspieltipps: "Coffee and a Smile", „Don’t Hold It Against Me“ und „Beautiful Destruction“ Wir werden bestimmt noch viel von Leesha Harvey hören, ich freue mich darauf. All Day Long...
author: Kari UeckerI love this cd! I could listen to it all day long! I expect to see Leesha at the Folks Festival in Lyons, Co on the main stage with all the other great musicians of her caliber. It is so exciting to see an artist who you know will rise to success, but also sing from the heart!
gelungen, aber nicht so intensiv wie die 'Originale'
author: WiPEine gelungenes Debüt, wenn auch etwas 'überproduziert': Stellenweise Chorgesang, lautes Schlagzeug und elektrische Gitarren-'Spielereien' lassen manchmal den Eindruck aufkommen, hier soll etwas 'massentauglicher' gemacht werden. Bezeichnenderweise verzichten die besten Einspielungen 'Beautiful Destruction' und 'Runyararo' darauf. Die CD hat bei mir jedenfalls nicht so viele Körperhäärchen elektrisiert wie die Originalsongs .-) Davon abgesehen, besitzt Leesha Harvey ein unglaubliches kompositorisches Talent für (hitverdächtige) Melodien. Wenn man's nicht wüßte, würde man denken, hier hätte jemand seine 'Best of...' veröffentlicht - und dabei stellt die CD noch nicht mal das Nonplusultra dar: 3 ihrer stärksten Songs [Coal Train, Yet we walk, All we need to know(eines der schönsten Liebeslieder,die ich kenne)] sind garnicht auf ihrem Debüt vertreten!
A Great Debut
author: DanI've have trudged my own way and listened to many great independent unsigned musicians over the years, however few stand out like Leesha Harvey's first cd "Penny in the Pocket". It is a fantastic debut from the first original song to the last from this talented artist. It starts with a strong opening "Coffee and a Smile". Its easy to bask in the sunshine of the upbeat "San Diego Morning" and hold on because she is just getting started. I love the unique way she brings out her powerful yet soothing voice in every song. The soul searching lyrics in the melodic "Beautiful Destruction" makes me realize this serious artist has come of age. There is also the heartfelt lyrics in the song "Always will Be". The second to last track is an intro to the final track "Runyararo". This powerful universal message of peace inspired by the plight of the long suffering people of Zimbabwe hits hard in this very moving song. Her social conscience is also noticed in the design of the unique cd jacket that only uses recycled materials and no plastic jewel case. Leesha has done great work on Youtube where you can experience the evolution of her music from the raw beginning videos of freshly written songs that progress into well produced music videos. Then we see the final coming together of it all into the studio version of this CD. I am so glad I made that random click and found Leesha on Youtube. I know great music from a talented artist when I hear it and Leesha is one of the best I have ever heard.5*****

Once you've found Leesha you won't be "Sorry love" because you'll find you've "Gotta Stay" and you'll have more than enough “Patience to Endure.” Well that's my opinion and I may seem like a fanatic but "Don't Hold it Against Me" because I “Always Will Be.” This album sounds awesome while I’m driving in traffic. But I still like the acoustic versions on YouTube even more. :P

author: Andrew DunmoreI found Leesha a year ago on youtube when she was recording original songs at home on piano and guitar. I was impressed then, but now hearing the finished works I am dazzled. Each song is great quality, and refreshing. Her lyrics are powerful, especially in the moving song 'Runyararo' about Zimbabwe. I definitely recommend this album to all!!!
Best CD I've heard in ages
