Heralded as the hottest soundtrack for a theater production, “Laterras R. Whitfield’s Issues: We All Got ‘em: The Original Soundtrack” is sure to get you bobbing your head or getting your praise on. National touring playwright, director, and producer Laterras R. Whitfield recruits some of the best vocalists and musicians in the industry for this beautiful array of music.
Tommie Walker, best known for the many hits he’s produced and wrote for gospel artist Fred Hammond, produced this awesome soundtrack. Gary “Lil’ G” Jenkins from the platinum selling R&B group Silk, lends his acrobatic vocals on the project. Check him out on the smooth track “Cornerman” and the up-tempo groove “No More Heartache.” You’ll also get the lush vocals of Marcus Cole, formerly from the group Commission, on the ballads “Let the Past Go” and “Making Up.” Don’t be surprised by the outstanding vocals and lyrics from Latavia Parker, from the writing camp of hip-hop artist Wyclef, on the songs “Without You” and “No More Heartache.” The talented up-and-coming vocal arranger and singer Polly Taylor blesses us with her contribution to the project. Hear her singing on “I Need a Miracle,” “Let the Past Go” and “Battle of Sexes.”
LATERRAS R. WHITFIELD
Who would’ve thought that an expulsion from one’s High School for gun possession, would be the destined measure to catapult that person into their purpose? Laterras R. Whitfield, is a nationally acclaimed playwright, director, producer, and actor who is the effect of such cause. At the rocky age of sixteen, he was expelled from Skyline High School for gun possession. Luckily, it was taken to be sold and not shot. It was in alternative school that he was first introduced to professional theatre, allowing him to take part in the student written and performed play entitled, Real Life. Moreover, this awarded Whitfield recognition as a published playwright. He’s been making his mark on the urban theater circuit to much success. Whitfield has been featured as a cover story in The Dallas Morning News (May 4, 2004), on Good Morning Texas, Fox 4 Insights, Sister2Sister magazine, and many other national and local publications. Some of his national original productions include: What Men Don’t Tell (starring Chante Moore, Kenny Lattimore, Dottie Peoples, Lenny Williams, and Gary Jenkins); Tell It To The Judge (starring WB’s Judge Greg Mathis and Ralph Tresvant), Guilty ‘Til Proven Innocent (starring K-Ci and JoJo, Christopher Williams, and Shirley Murdock), to name a few. He’s latest show, “Issues: We all Got ‘em” (starring Angie Stone, Mel Jackson, Vanessa Williams, Dave Hollister, Latoya London, and Christopher Williams) is currently touring the United States.
