notes
In the spring of 2004 the band was invited to London where they played music from their previous album, ’Segments’. They played for four days on a stage set up at the historic marketplace of Covent Garden. They were playing street music, popularizing the genre in the heart of London, in an open space. The band and I felt so much at ease in that unusual and inspiring ‘concert hall’ that he built the material of the new CD on this experience. This is how ‘Street Music’ was born.
Laszlo Des was born in Budapest, Hungary and he has been regularly present on the Hungarian jazz scene ever since 1978. He had done a lot to popularize jazz. The knowledge he had gained in the field of jazz were implemented in pop music by creating a higher standard of the genre. He has the exact sense of proportioning the elements of jazz with songs for the wider audience so his academic education doesn't suffocate the actual performance.
His main instrument is the soprano saxophone of which subtle and 'subjective' pure tone, the ingenuity of his improvisational melodic lines reflecting his literate and sophisticated personality, made him one of the most personal and appealing of all jazz stylists praised by the audience and critics, too.
The band has also recorded a DVD at the tour that followed the attendance of the album and you can also find extras about a concert with the contribution of Randy Brecker- that was kept in the19th of August.
The Band: Laszlo Des – soprano saxophone; Kornel Kovacs-Fekete – trumpet; Gabor Juhasz – guitar; Jozsef Balazs – keyboards; Peter Glaser – contrabass; Andras Des – percussion; Elemer Balazs - drums
