notes

People love stories and Larry Hover knows how to tell them. He introduces us to characters, both real and imagined, moving them into our neighborhood, or transporting us into theirs.

It's all in the words. So carefully constructed that you'll discover something new in each song at least the first half-dozen times you listen. Complicated rhyme schemes, double entendre, internal rhymes, all flowing flawlessly together, to reveal the heart of God to both believers and unbelievers alike.

With melodies you'll find yourself singing long into the day, each song carries a profound message, intended to either strike you funny, or hit you right between the eyes.

I have to admit that "Saturday Nights" started my love for the album but it wasn't long before I began to love all ten songs. "Roll Over Me" is probably my favorite now because of the way the song is so anointed. I wake up in he morning to "Gotta Get Singing" and the rest of the songs run through my head all day. It took about three months for me to get my fill before I could stop listening to the CD. This hasn't happened since before I was saved and listened to Beatle records a long long time ago. I felt a instant relationship with Larry when I met him and can't wait till he's back around this way so I can enjoy his music again in person.

  • A wonderful sound I've not heard in Christian music thus far

James Taylor on God. I love James Taylor and this cd will give you all the same feelings that a JT cd would, except for one thing. This is all Godly! What better combination could you ask for? Larry Hover's smooth and mellow grooves will sooth the soul, while his more up tempo songs just make you feel plain happy. I mean Toy Story happy or Wonderful World happy. They are the kinds of songs that never leave you and give God all the glory in the world. Larry Hover brings a wonderful sound that I have not heard in Christian music thus far. • Larry Hover's best work yet!
    author: Phil Paonessa

A superb collection! I was strongly reminded of John Mayer and, of course, J.T. Larry weaves lyrical wizardry and guitar mastery into a beautiful tapestry of story and song. From the days of those three-finger piano chords you used to play, to the Keaggy-esque stuff you're doing today, thanks for the journey!

  • This cd speaks to you!
    author: Keith Magness

This cd speaks to you. Weather you’re in your car or in your house this cd will make you feel right at home. I have known him since I was a little kid and it is cool to hear his voice coming out of the cd player. It is like he is sitting in my house. Great cd, listen to it once or twice a week!

From the first crystal clear notes that are picked in unison on the acoustic guitar to the tastefully layered percussion that slowly fills the background, you can tell this is not a typical Christian pop album. Using a singer/songwriter approach not typically seen in the genre, these songs ring out as truly original, giving the listener credit by never falling back on cliche. Fans of James Taylor will certainly appreciate this, as the complex yet simple blend of vocal melodies and plucked accents form a streamlined backbone for the songs to derive their strength from. Living up to the title, this group of songs is mostly narrative, the first person account of a man finding himself, his cause in life, and a sense of peace that is directly reflected in the way that he approaches his songwriting.
