notes

Since arriving new to the bay area in 1998 and starting her music career, Lara has come a long way in a short time, earning loyal fans from Los Angeles to Grass Valley. This year the Lara Price Band will embark on a national tour to promote Lara's second album entitled "Faces Of The Blues", which is currently getting airplay nationwide.

Lara and her band have shared the bill with headliners Etta James, Little Richard, James Brown, Bobby Blue Bland and many more! Last year Lara returned to the Monterey Blues Festival for the second year in a row. Lara also lent her talent to sing back up w/ Triple Seven at the Fillmore in San Francisco, opening up for the pop band Smashmouth.

When it comes to the blues, Lara found inspiration in a future blues legend: Susan Tedeschi, and queen of soul: Aretha Franklin.

It was on the stage at JJ's, where Lara runs her own Blues Jam, that she caught the attention of Blues Revue Magazine, who featured her in their September 2000 issue.

One of the aspiring blues players participating at Lara's jam was guitarist Laura Chavez, who plays with both emotion and technical ability beyond her years. Laura's talent was recognized in a blues guitar contest sponsored by Fender Guitars in which she was first runner-up out of 4200 entries. Laura inspired Lara with her playing, and now she is featured in the band. The common bond that Lara and Laura share is that they both fell in love with the blues without expecting to. As Lara says, "We didn't find the blues the blues found us." This year Lara and Laura were honored to showcase their stuff at the NAMM show in Los Angeles.

She's an all-American singer with a sultry stage presence and a voice that demands your attention-smoky, lonely, sexy, and powerful. It's all about the love of the music and letting the crowd share in her passion.

The Lara Price Band, a 5 piece band comprised of Lara Price on vocals, Laura Chavez on guitar, "Baldhead" Fred Rautman on Drums, Jack Cannon on Bass, and Gary Goldsworthy on Keyboards, can be seen live in venues throughout California and across the nation. "Faces of the Blues" can be heard on radio stations from California to Massachusetts.

  • 8 smokin' songs!
    author: jon

Great collection of songs. Too bad there are only 8 on the CD. 'Can't Quit the Blues' blows Steppenwolf's 'Born to be Wild' from the drivers seat and make's you want to run to your car and hit the highway running!! You can't sit still during that song!! Laura Chavez is amazing for her years!! Love it!

  • What a great cd and a great band!

I'm a huge blues fan and I go to alot of clubs. I had the great fortune of seeing the Lara Price band in April of 2005 and I bought the cd from Lara. This is amazing work and stacks up with my best cd's from Robben Ford to Chris Cain. Can't wait for the next one. Go see this band live!

  • What a voice!
    author: Frederico Alvarez

Lara's vocals are a real standout on this album! I'ver seen the band live too and she is really captivating as she dominates the stage and belts out the words with total fire. An up and comer blues vocalist for sure!

  • One Smokin' CD!
    author: Bob Hunter

Smokin' is the best way I can describe this CD! The combination of Lara Price's smoky vocals and the smokin' guitar work from Laura Chavez makes this CD a "must-have" for any blues fan! I'm a big fan now and can't wait for the next CD!

  • Buy the CD and catch a live performance if at all possible

When I stepped out of the Guitar Center and saw a JJ's Blues across the street, I thought, "Nice, I'll catch some blues." Little did I know that the Lara Price Blues Band was going to catch me! I waited months for this CD to come out and immediately bought 3. You should do the same. It's great driving music. And if at all possible you should catch them live. There have been times that I have sat there listening and thought, "This must be what it was like listening to the Yardbirds or Cream in pubs back in the day." Listening to Laura play Little Wing brings tears to my eyes every time. Thank you Lara Price and company!

  • i've gone through 2 cd's
    author: cliff taylor

all the songs are hypnotizing. luckily i have burned copies because i work in construction and cd's get chewed up. i've gone through 2 so far. i never get tired of listening to lara's awesome vocals and laura's beautiful and haunting guitar work. i have seen this group live 3 times - - - so far

  • best blues cd I have purchased this year!!!
    author: nj-guy

Lara Price's vocals are incredible but Laura Chavez on lead guitar is the highlight of the CD! After a while - you find yourself waiting for the guitar riffs in each cut - and you are never disappointed. Hard to believe such blues energy comes from one so young. The Lara Price Band is ready for the 'big-time' - whatever that may be for a blues band.

  • Basically - a good blues cd - well polished.
    author: EDG

I'm sure we will hear more of the Lara Price Band in the future. The stuff on this CD is real. Although you can't keep from foot tapping with the title song ('Faces of the Blues'), the last cut 'When...Where...Why' should hit your insides. This CD should place Lara right in the middle of a small group of young upcoming blues females (Tedeschi, Connor, Coleman, etc.).
