notes
the Songwriter and Musician
Lara Herscovitch is “captivating” (Smother.net). “A remarkable performer” (WSHU Profiles in Folk), “one hell of a find” (New Haven Advocate). A unique and charismatic songwriter and performer, Lara’s music is an original and skillful blend of contemporary acoustic/folk blended with pop, and at various times Latin, jazz, and blues. “Delicious” (Indie-Music.com), smart, poetic and witty, Lara “masterfully” (Womenfolk.net) merges soulful melodies with “perfect wordcrafting” (New Haven Advocate) and “keen intelligence” (The Chronicle). She is engaging and “inspiring” (Manchester VT Journal), “fresh and invigorating” (Music Morsels), with a voice “clear and smooth like expensive liquor” (Northeast Performer).
"…Her voice and performance style had me captivated right away. She truly stands out in a crowd of rising folksingers" (Valley Folk, Elmira NY). Her songs cover a broad range of topics: love, family, wisdom, poverty…; “the more you listen, the more you will like what she does” (Green Man Review); it is “pure musical poetry” (The Courier). Her third CD, Juror Number 13, is“among the best folk releases of the year and possibly many years past.” (Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange), with her “great and refreshing sound” (Acoustic Café).

author: Now On Tour"...refreshing talent... Pure, crisp, refreshing, singer songwriter Lara Herscovitch is a welcome alternative... this one-time would-be lawyer's voice is arresting, warm and engaging; the guitar picking rates at least four out of five jalapenos... the perfect soundtrack for transforming a lazy, hazy sun-soaked day into a luscious, full-body, all-senses experience."

"masterful"
author: Womenfolk.net"On her latest offering, Juror Number 13, Herscovitch masterfully creates a proud batch of poignant songs, each one possessing its own unique charm. Smart lyrics and a noticable whimsy mark Herscovitch as someone who embraces the serious as much as the humorous side of folk music."
"terrific set of story-telling devices that goes beyond..."
author: The Courier (Marisa Nadolny)"Herscovitch accomplishes versatility in folk music through a terrific set of story-telling devices that goes beyond... through Herscovitch's lens we get to look at American culture, which she sometimes criticizes and sometimes defends, and its players emerge tragic fools, unsung heroes, and troubled souls whose stories we want to hear..."
"one of Connecticut's finest musical exports..."
author: Guy Michael-Grande"...Herscovitch is fast becoming one of Connecticut's finest musical exports. Wielding her warm voice, humorous wit and keen intelligence..."
"building up a rabid fanbase... Her vocals continue to amaze..."
author: J-Sin"Herscovitch is doing a fine job of building up a rabid fanbase (myself dutifully included)... Her vocals continue to amaze me as she pops and weaves her way in and out of Spanish and English lyrics..."
