LA PIETA: Summer

La Pieta

Summer

© 2001 La Pieta

CD permanently out of stock. Sorry!

Catchy songs with honest lyrics that tickle the heart; sweet, well thought out vocal harmonies; and sparse, melodic guitar along with bass and drums sum up our indie-pop sound. We love to write melodic songs about life, love, and walking to the subway.

Profesor Plum: La Pieta's music contains all those things that i like about indie pop when it is done well: sweet, well thought out vocal harmonies; sparse, melodic guitar that holds back when it should and rocks when the listener doesn't expect it but secretly wants it; bass lines that share with the guitar & vocals the job of carrying a melody but stealthily so; a drummer who listens and locks it in; and, of course, catchy songs with honest lyrics that tickle the heart.

Village Voice: La Pieta sing flowery, floaty little melodies...listen hard enough and you'll start to agree with the band: The best way to illustrate relationships is to use subtelty as a safeguard.

Songs are on the quiet side, which makes them all the easier to hum along to.

The Brooklyn trio met at Oberlin College where, among other provocative pasttimes, clever indie acts prevail.

The band Tungsten 74 describes us as writing "Fractured Pop"

Male and female interactive vocals are the focal point of this cleverly arranged and executed Emo-pop treasure. Says the Village Voice: Flowery, floaty little melodies that might initially suggest they'd do best at a '60s lovefest, but listen hard enough and you'll start to agree with the band: The best way to illustrate relationships is to use subtelty as a safeguard.

  • A great album that's not afraid to be sweet

La Pieta sounds the way everyone wants their smart rock band to sound. Their songs have clear melodies, even tempos and genuinely beautiful singing. I actually get more complements on _Summer_ than I do for the new Catpower album. Get it before your friends start telling *you* about La Pieta, this cool new band they discovered.
