George Gershwin bridged the gap between classical and jazz music; pianist Jeff Lankov finds a perfect balance between the two, playing Gershwin's original arrangements with a style that is sensitive, snappy and totally American.

notes
George Gershwin bridged the gap between classical and jazz music, an accomplishment unequaled by any other American composer. Jeff Lankov's formal training and affinity for popular styles makes the music of Gershwin a natural choice for his debut recording.
Jeff Lankov is a pianist, musical director, and composer, active in both classical and popular styles. Recent appearances have included solo recitals, chamber music concerts, a recording of the piano music of George Gershwin, and concertos of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Grieg, Gershwin and Bernstein.
Lankov's solo recitals often feature works by living composers and unusual juxtapositions of repertoire. Past concerts have included music for toy piano and prepared piano, Lankov's own solo-piano transcription of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring, and a program of piano music by American composer Robert Xavier Rodríguez.
In addition to performances at concert halls throughout the world, Lankov has served as musical director for such theatre companies as Radio City Music Hall, Dallas Summer Musicals, Dallas Theater Center, and Casa Mañana, as well as several national tours.
Jeff Lankov recently saw the premiere of his new theatrical production, "Love Is Here To Stay: A George Gershwin Revue". Mr. Lankov resides in New York City.

Jeff Lankov The Piano of George Gershwin
author: Cindy ParkerI am thrilled with this album. I was hoping for a few pieces to be played from the Piano book that I recently purchased, but Jeff expertly played EVERY piece from this book, and it was thrilling to be able to follow along and watch the written notes while I listened. ALso,the addition of the Preludes on this album was exciting. It has become my favorite album that I own. Thank you, for such fun and beautifully performed music.
