notes
Landermason are a songwriting duo based in Northumberland, England who are recognised for their blend of original folk and jazz. Landermason are Fiona Lander (vocals, piano, whistles, saxophone, recorder and clarinet) and Paul Mason (guitars, vocals).
Since the release of their last album ‘Angel of the North’ in 2004, they have gone from strength to strength and are currently touring across the UK following the launch of their brand new CD in June 2007.
The new album titled ‘The Reason’ is a mix of songs and tunes all written, recorded and produced by Fiona and Paul. The only exception being ‘When The Boat Comes In’ a striking arrangement which combines the traditional North East folk song ‘Dance to your Daddy’ with something completely different. Guest musicians Kathryn Davidson and Peter Tickell are featured on this track together with almost 40 other people who all sing together in the last chorus!
Other guest musicians featured on the CD are percussionist Geoff Hutchinson and XYZ fiddlers Sarah Jones and brother David Jones (BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award winner 2006).
Landermason are particularly pleased to have collaborated with these and other local artists for the production of the album. Artist David Robson has painted a series of regional watercolours especially for the CD artwork. Photographer Duncan Davis has provided the front cover image and all graphic design work has been done by Richard Fowler.

Fiona and Paul...absolutely spellbound by your songs. 'I Know There's a Reason' is so haunting and have not stopped playing your CD 'The Reason'. So much success to you both.
