notes
Also featuring James Lent (piano), John Walz (cello), and David Olivas (sax).
Lance's passion is singing. His instrument can be compared to some of the great operatic and musical theater "baritenors," such as Thomas Hampson and John Raitt. But his nostalgic style hearkens back to the 1920's & 30's, to singers like Bing Crosby and Rudy Vallèe.
As a child, after he was discovered by TV's "Star Search" in 1989, he dedicated himself to music and has since grown into a fine singer. A Southern California native, Lance graduated from The Orange County High School of the Arts. He then began a professsional musical theater career, playing such roles as Tony in West Side Story, Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Tommy in Brigadoon, while earning a degree from UCLA, where he was a recipient of the Carol Burnett Musical Theater Award.
After graduation Lance began to explore classical singing. In 2002, he performed in the opera Madama Butterfly and decided to change his vocal technique from musical theater to classical. After that, he studied music and foreign languages as intensely as the challenging discipline of classical music requires, but also fell in love with the repertoire of Harold Arlen, Irving Berlin, and other composers of the Great American Songbook.
On January 1, 2008, Lance released his first album, Just a Gigolo, a collection of classical and jazz standards, interpreted from the point of view of The Gigolo character from the classic song. In addition, Lance has worked as a personal trainer in the fitness industry for the last 10 years. Having worked with celebrity clientele such as Placido Domingo, Lance's biggest hobby (besides singing) is "pumping iron."

Love it!
author: JulianLance has one of the most beautiful voices I've heard. I thoroughly enjoyed the album. I felt like I was wrapped up in a surreal world serenaded by an operatic Rudy Vallee - definitely a little good something different!
