New Zealander, Craig Williamson's Lamp of the Universe project has brought forth two albums since its inception in 1999, "The Cosmic Union" and "Echo in Light" (three albums if you count his first solo album, "Lotus of a Thousand Petas" released under his own name). However, "Earth, Spirit, and Sky" finds the Lamp of the Universe shining brightly in a more heartfelt, song-oriented, and stripped back effort.
“Earth, Spirit, and Sky” reaches the heights of psychedelic folk – driven by sitar, acoustic and electric guitars, flute, and voice into epic zones inhabited by the likes of The Incredible String Band and Fit & Limo. “Earth, Spirit, and Sky” is beyond “new weird america” or some 60’s nostalgia – it lies within the heart of timeless psychedelia and explorative music.
