notes

Gus Lambros and Electric Mud is a Mid-West USA Rocking Blues band. We are a OLD SCHOOL style rock band with deep roots feeding from the blues.(CREAM,ZEPPLIN,ETC.) We have been compared to Hendrix, Trower, Frank Marino, and the Mule. We have opened for national acts ranging from Kings X, Trower, and most recently Joe Bonamassa. The title track has just been contracted for use in a INDY film titled "Fixing Rhonda" to be presented at the Sundance Film Fest. The band is driven by Guitarist frontman Gus Lambros. This power trio captures the real deal. The band is in its 11th year and have honed the live tone to the vintage tone of the masters. Bad Gamble will rock you with the title track, but send you with the dreamy Downtime. If you've not seen the Mud keep a look out for they do upwards of 200 shows a year so make plans now to see this band!!!!!! We are just doing our second printing of Bad Gamble so look for the white tray soon at CD Baby. Nothing beats the live show but this is what we have to offer and will be working on a new CD to be released in 2009. This CD is very well arranged, and has a nice variety of tunes. I especially like the bass guitar lines, Scott is probably the best bassist I've ever had a chance to hear! Keep on keepin' on!

  • gritty, soulful, nasty, spine-tingling blues rock

from the screaming guitar solo on the opening title track (bad gamble) to the final notes of the last track (voodoo child) it's obvious that gus lambros is passionate about what he's playing. if anyone has ever sounded more like jimi hendrix when covering voodoo child, i haven't heard it. it gives me chills, especially since i've listened to hendrix religiously for over 30 years. my favorite tunes from this disc are bad gamble, in which gus uses effects and tone like a surgeon uses a scalpel. precise and to the point, no messing around. another original, mama blooze, is a catchy rocking tune with a kinda shuffle feel. if you can stop your foot from tapping on this one you better see a neurologist. another highlight, and original song, is downtime. i'm not sure how to describe this instrumental piece but to say that if you listen to this track with the lights off you might feel like you are having an out of body or religious experience. though it has a different melody it immediately made me think of the SRV masterpiece entitled riviera paradise. when you listen to the covers that make up the second half of this cd, i think you are gonna appreciate gus lambros' understanding and love of the blues. see see baby, born under a bad sign, and champagne and reefer are songs that have been with us for decades but are made to sound fresh, funky, and nasty (in a good way). great playing by everyone involved and really just a lotta fun. the last two songs, spanish castle magic and voodoo child, make us wonder if hendrix is really dead. he certainly lives on in lambros' fingers. jan roll does an excellent job on the skins, and scott boomer brammer is very good at keeping the band anchored to the beat. these guys build an excellent foundation for gus to build on and he doesn't disappoint. buy this cd and i bet you'll keep it in heavy rotation for months. i know i have. thanks for listening, steve g

Love the CD. Hard to find new music in this genre. Only thing I don't like is that they don't have any shows in San Francisco.
