  • The tipping point

Every song on this EP is amazing but if you're thinking about getting this, just thinking; give "Ruth Marie" a go. That's worth the price of the album alone. A Sheer Masterpiece.

I am so thrilled that this album was added to my collection. I am quite the collector and this album will undoubtedly go down as one of my top 10. Get this album and get hyper and get nuts and silly and crazy nits wild! Awesome, awesome music! Ok, I am now speechless as I listen to the first song again. Get it now!

  • I didn't know I was looking for it, glad I found it

Mark Kozelek is an extremely talented songwriter. I bought this cd a week ago and I've practically worn a hole in it, so just went and ordered his other solo effort. Songs that hold up this well under multiple listenings are extremely rare. I will anxiously await the next cd!

What a tender piece of pure fierce genius

  • spine chilling!

Red House Painters is not only my favorite band but the greatest unknown band in the world. Mark now continues with this remarkable, spine-chilling solo album! I thought the magic was over but it now continues! Mark please tour Denver! Please!

  • Required listening for the modern rockers.
    author: Jeff Witzeman

It's rare to get something so real. I'm sure Mark is happy to stay in the underground away from the clamour of the ignorant masses. The album hits all the unique buttons, staying clear of anything common. The guitar tones are especially crisp and dynamic. Turn off all the lights and put this one on.

  • Grows on you
    author: Ken

Though not as emotional or as deep as the group's earlier work, this will still linger in your mind like fond memories. "Bad Boy Boogie" and the two originals are simply amazing! It's a different kind of powerful unlike the other works... closest to Songs from a blue guitar, where you suddenly can't stop humming it. Now all I need is the full length band release!! oh Please..!

  • The autumn is here again!
    author: Zimeon

Although this isn´t a whole album it is just fantastic. First I thought of this EP as something to make the long wait for the next REAL Red House Painters a little bit easier, but this is NOT the case. This semi-collection has got a life of it´s own now and are just as rewarding as the rest of Mark Kozeleks work. I don´t think that anything else but the highest score is good enough for this one...

  • Red House Singer!
    author: St. Hubbins

Rock n Roll Singer is not only an incredible album, it's a milestone in Rock History! Who else besides Mark Koselek can take AC/DC songs and make them sound so damned beautiful and meaningful! Take for instance his covers of Rock n Roll Singer, Bad Boy Boogie, and You Ain't Got a Hold on Me. These are songs when the orginal AC/DC version is listened to misses the words because of the intensity of the music. Here Mark brings the lyrics out in the spotlight and let's us see what greatness lies in them by backing them with music that fits the mood of the lyrics. As for the originals on this album, all I can say is SUPBERB! Find Me is an absolute genuine masterpiece of a song that evokes more emotion in one line than Pearl Jam can evoke in a whole album! Need I say more? Do yourself a favor and buy this CD! Mark is one of this generations most inspiring songwriters!!!

  • Could Mark be the greatest songwriter in the 1990's?
    author: Zinny

Borrowing from previous ideas portrayed on Red House Painters albums, Mark mixes the songs on his solo debut in a familiar yet refreshing array. This album goes a long way in filling out Mark's list of career accomplishments. For a brief peek into the mind of a musical genius, "Rock 'n' Roll Singer" does just that.
