notes

The music on this CD is truly unique. It was created by 45 musicians, who have never met, brought together in the online world through Kompoz.com. Working from all over the map, from the comfort of their home studios, these independent artists composed (we like to say "kompozed") and recorded these songs under the open collaborative licensing of the Creative Commons, inviting anyone to contribute to each and every song. Think you can make them better? Then log on to Kompoz.com and join in. This is the future of music.

  • WONDERFUL
    author: Pamela Keil

MDK is my wonderful and talented husband!! He loves Kompoz and making this CD meant the world to him. He considers his friends at kompoz some of his best buddies. It is a great outlet for him and event though he doesn't think I appreciate his talents, trust me when I say, I think he is one of the most talented musicians ever. Keep up the good work guys and gals and treasure the gifts God has given you!

I have been watching the site Kompoz.com or some time now and was already aware that there was some excellent music on the site. I bought the CD All Over The Map on that basis and also as I was already aware of some of the songs and liked them. I was not dissapointed and thoroughly recommend the CD to anyone who likes a wide variety of music

  • Support Unsigned Musicians!
    author: Jessica Rasche

I am a member of Kompoz, I had only been a member for a couple months, when talk of putting a compilation CD together began. And I was lucky enough to happen to sing backup on a very well written song on the CD, called "Strut Your Stuff". The musicians at Kompoz.com are some of the most gifted, and talented people I have ever had the privilege to chat and work with. Before I joined the site I never had written a thing, and the musicians there greeted me with open arms, gave me some valuable advice, and work very hard at making great music, all while having fun doing it! This CD proves that Music is truly a universal language, since all the musicians are "All Over The Map", there are definitely language barriers, but not when it comes to collaboration. The music here will speak for itself! You will not be disappointed in the least with the purchase of your CD. There are so many wonderful unsigned musicians all over the world, that will never be heard. Here is your chance to support unsigned artists! I also recommend that you spread the word about Kompoz.com to your friends, family and co-workers, and any musician or "inspiring" musician you come across. You never know, just like me, they may not know the potential and love they have for collaborating!

  • A brand new concept
    author: Björn Pehrson

I am one of the musicians on this CD, so my review will be slightly biased :). I love this CD, for its music but also for the way its contents have been created. None of the musicians performing on any song on this CD have actually met, all recording, mixing and creative communication has been done at www.kompoz.com, a social workspace for musicians. The amazing thing about this concept is to realise how much of a unifier music really is, and which incredible high quality of music can be created across country borders, cultures, languages and religions. This is, in my opinon, the future of music!

  • Welcome To The New Frontier
    author: Mike Gervasi

This is the first album, to my knowledge, comprised of songs that were COMPLETELY written and recorded by musicians in different parts of the world. The fact that no two people sat together to record/compose (or Kompoz as it were) these songs is a true testament to the power of the internet and modern recording.
