The Knight Brothers Story
The Knight family, like many musical families has been engaged in music for many generations. The Mother, Sarah and Father (Carriel Sr.) and his brothers were the Original Knight Brothers Trio playing in the mid. eastern and southern states through the late 50's and 60's. The soul stirring harmonies, and southern Appalachian style made country gospel music like ear candy.
Then it was so... the first of five singing offspring... Carriel Jr. (Chuck) At the age of seven Chuck was taking his place behind the microphone, and what a voice did he have! Chuck was tragically killed in a work related accident during a summer job at 17 almost 18 years old.
Less than two years later David and Daniel the identical twins, would never let big brother "up stage" them without a fight. One bold one bashful, the twins would have to do some serious singing to keep up with Chuck. The same was so for the next brother Harold (Dean), he did any and everything imaginable to get the spotlight. At this point the brothers had already started finding parts for each of the young voices, the youngest brother Curtis would make and even five to the roster. Curtis just had no choice in the matter, he to would need to pull his weight as the youngest member of the Knight Brothers. They often refer to Curtis as the voice of a miracle. Curtis was born with a hole in his heart and would need (at that time) a very rare open heart surgery, the first of it's kind at The University of Maryland. The procedure was successful, but due to collapsing lungs would need a series of tracheotomies that would cause permanent damage to his vocal chords. For years he had no voice. The doctors told hem he would more than likely never talk again, let alone sing. They wouldn't accept that. They would ask God for a miracle, He granted it. In a few short years Curtis's voice is described to be like velvet. Now Curtis is singing his heart out as well playing guitar. Now with all the boys healthy and singing the only thing missing was some 70's flashy clothing, that is until Mother and Grandmother broke out the sewing machine making matching suites. "Groovy Baby!" There Dad and uncles had already recorded several vinyl records during the late sixties and early seventies. Now the boys wanted to record something of our own. During a short summer tour in beautiful Columbus Ohio, they recorded an "LP" album titled: "Victory at Calvary" the title song written by the father Carriel Sr.
You can't even imagine the paroles they went through making this record. Despite the obstacles... Within two years sold nearly 10,000 copies. They were now starting to play more often and in front of much larger audiences.
Two years after the record was made it happened Chuck the oldest was killed. Nothing could have prepared the family for this trauma. Having just graduated and qualifying for a music scholarship in a school in up state New York, Chucks life and musical career was over. This would make life for the remaining family very difficult. The loss would be felt by thousands of people in the community. While the family JUST tried to make sense of it all.
Nearly two years later, the brothers would re-emerge publicly, musically. It was time to let the music help to heal the hurt from the loss of big brother. They knew Chuck would want that. So, The Knight Brothers entered a music competition called "The Wrangler Country Star Search." The competition would go on for more than a year before they would be picked for the "top ten" in the country for the "big show" at The Grand Ole Opre, Nashville Tennessee. The Knight Brothers placed first runner up for a cool 15,000 dollars. This victory was dedicated to Chuck. The next few years would spent doing a variety of music while living in the "real world" was taking place. Girlfriends became wives and children soon came into play. Music was still the glue that held the brothers together. While continuing to sing, writing music became extremely important to the brothers.
After years of accumulating original material the Knight Brothers would give Nashville another try, In the early 90's the country music market was heating up. The Brothers finally got the break we were looking for in 1995; when a Independent record deal was presented to the fellows by an business man from Indianapolis area. They negotiated a nice deal and was now a "signed act". They spent the next year back and forth to Nashville recording a 15 song CD and video. As the project was almost completed when the management company and Publishing company had serious disputes that would eventually prohibit the release of the CD. Consequently they were able to divorce the management company and walk away from the mess of bureaucracy and legal redirect.
From that point on The Knight Brothers have been an independent entity and have done our own thing, playing as much or as little as our busy lives would allow. Currently, The Brothers also have a new CD titled "Mile Markers" that has just been released in March 05.

author: Doug MStumbled across this CD and these boys. I went to school with Chuck and the twins, played football with Chuck. Very good family, and I am thrilled to see this album. Having listened to the excerpts, I couldn't help buying 3! gentlemen. Chuck would be proud. Great music!
Awesome
author: BobAwesome music. My wife confiscated my original copy. Had to buy 2 more, one for wife, one for mom. Need to get this music on the radio and some videos made. Will make the top 10 easily on several tracks.
Awesome! Their Christian beliefs are evident in their songs.
author: CharleneI play this CD over and over. I love the song "That's What Makes America". It is a true reflection of most people's lives. Country Girl's Cadillac and Love Monkey are such fun songs. My husband's favorite song is Made To Order Beauty Queen. It is hillarious! We saw them in concert in Hagerstown and I have been hooked ever since.

This a great album. You could not ask for more. The song Love Forgotten Bride is the greatest. I really hit home especially for me.
All tracks are awesome, down home country!
author: Sheri RiceThis is a CD full of great music, not just one or two good songs. From peppy to ballads they hit the nail on the head every time. All their own stuff and one great remake that is superbly done! Can't wait for more from this bunch!
