Greg Klyma is a Buffalo born troubadour who has been living on the road performing music full-time since August 1998. Traveling from the rust belt to FEMA villages with guitar and mandolin in hand, capturing the stories of the people he's met and seen for over a decade, Greg has honed his songwriting and storytelling while developing a show that lands somewhere between the worlds of Steve Earle and Steve Martin - it's literate, witty, visual, sometimes comical and forever building on tradition while seeking its own voice.

well worth a listen
author: sharon bateyi'm relatively new to the music of greg klyma, but am impressed. i picked up his music in reverse order of print, and though i like all three, i really look forward to the next one, as i see a really positive progression in the work. that older, wiser, more confident, maybe even a bit more jaded...just adds flavor to the music, and gives us all something we can relate to.
Pretty Pretty Pretty
author: Eric EndresThis album has several good songs on it, but what makes it really worthwhile is for one absolute gem of a song called "Pretty". Such a simple, sweet and incredibly infectious little melody and guitar pattern, and yet deeply evocative in a way. I think it may be one of the greatest folky love songs ever. Too bad he doesn't have a sound clip of that available here... Guess you'll have to buy the album to hear it. :o)
This is a definite “gotta have it” CD
author: dpYou’ll never grow tired of listening to this CD. Greg’s energy, voice, lyrics, guitar, mandolin and harmonica playing give you a sense that you’re at a live show experience. The only thing missing are his occasional antics and jokes. :)
verrrrry goood
author: Andy BaskinThis cd is awesome, in my opinion every song on this cd is great. I don't know how many cd's that exist out there that you could say that every song is great. My favorites on this one are Brothers Code, Macgruders Daughter, Human Like you and Hows it going. I asked Greg if the song Macgruders daughter was a real story and he said, I'll never tell. Gregs music is really good, you get a real feel for what his music is about from this cd.
NY savvy with a Texas twang
author: Jennifer LaytonKlyma writes and plays with spontaneity and bouncing energy. Fortunately, he leaves a lot of that spontaneity on the CD. His voice is just so friendly, and the music is bluegrassy, poppy, country-rocky. Giddy. Fun. No matter how bad your day has been, no matter how hardlined your moral views are, this music will charm you. It’s smart acoustic storytelling that invites you to come out and play. If he ever plays live in your hometown, take him up on the invitation. And ask for the dessert menu.
Homespun Music Born of Highways
author: Jer Hoyle > Strictly Hip'In the Meantime' is a rainy Sunday morning with a cup of brandy spiked tea kind of album. It's literate and musical...a tough combo to find in 2001. Chock full of American music tradition and bright observations from America's highways and living rooms. I like this album.
Klyma lets his words and music speak for themselves.
author: Toni Ruberto At The Buffalo NewsWe've come to expect quite a lot from singer-songwriter Greg Klyma His songs are literate, funny inquisitive, poignant. As a storyteller, he wears his heart on his sleeve and he's proud of it. "In the Meantime," is a surprisingly diverse release for a guy with a guitar. Tempo and styles vary just enough to keep it unpredictable.
exerpt from the "Listening Booth" with Bryan Redemske (Oct. 4, 2001)
author: Waterloo-cedar Falls Courier (iowa)After listening to the album, I can't see how Klyma would be any better off with a full band. His voice and guitar sound great alone, and he tells a story like few others. In terms of comparisons, Klyma is similar to Ryan Adams, but without the rough edges. Adams sometimes snarls and scratches while Klyma is free and easygoing. He tells it like it is, and it's refreshing. You know that when he sings his songs, it's how he feels. It's truthful, but not threatening. It doesn't seem to matter if you agree or not - he's just telling everyone what's in his head.
