"The Kitchenette's DINING AT THE BANQUET, it was so thrilling! A feast of delicious vocals!" --- Stu Hamstra, www.CabaretHotlineOnline.com
*****
Take one earthy contralto, mix in a flirtatious mezzo, and top off with an impishly glorious soprano.... add tasty arrangements, juicy patter; sprinkle generously with humor and zesty innuendo, and you've got a recipe for a terrific evening of cabaret whether you see them live or listen to them on tape.
"This is a group you like the moment they're on stage. Their magnificent voices are beautifully blended. [They] know how to please an audience." - Jerry Friedman, KGO-AM Radio Entertainment
"Three lovely songbirds - a talented Bay Area ensemble with a unique spin on musical expression. Musically nutritious and certainly food for thought." - L. Pierce Carson, Napa Valley Register
"One hot trio that out sings and out swings the Andrews Sisters." - Rob Bailis, Theater Director, ODC Theater
The Kitchenettes - Linda Kosut, Eryka Raines and Lua Hadar - treat the audience to a full spectrum of emotions and styles, from comedic and saucy trios to lyric and soulful solos, showcasing the individual and collective talents of this stunning trio of San Francisco-based vocal artists ...
* Linda Kosut, a lush chardonnay, mouth-filling flavors of toasty oak with a lingering finish
* Eryka Raines, a frisky nouveau that melds the musky intensity of velvet with an exuberantly spicy finish
* Lua Hadar, a sparkling spumante that begs to be drunk
In April 2003, The Kitchenettes premiered the new version of their show DINE, Where Food & Lust Burst Into Song at Napa's COPIA: The American Center for Wine, Food & The Arts, to critical acclaim. They received a standing ovation at their June performance of DINE at San Francisco's Plush Room. At both of these performances, The Kitchenettes were accompanied by their long-time San Francisco musical director, Barry Lloyd who can be heard playing on their CD, "Dining at the Banquet." The Kitchenettes also appeared at the Italian National Festival of Comic Songs & Songwriters in September 2003, accompanied by New York pianist Sheldon Forrest.
LUA HADAR. As a soloist and as a founding member of The Kitchenettes vocal trio, Lua Hadar has performed in musical theatre, opera and cabaret across North America and Europe, including over 500 performances in Italy. Lua trained in her native New York at the renowned Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater and also in master classes at the Metropolitan Opera. Her new CD, It’s about Time, was released in 2005, and tunes from this recording are the centerpiece of her new one-woman show IT’S ABOUT TIME, ALREADY! which recently “knocked it out of the park” at The Empire Plush Room and will soon be seen at The Gardenia in West Hollywood. Lua performs this fall with 42nd Street Moon company in Gershwin's "Pardon My English," and will appear with the Jason Martineau Jazz Trio at Anna's Jazz Island in November. www.luahadar.com
LINDA KOSUT Linda is best known for her unique stylings of jazz standards, pop and country. Her passionate and interpretive skill with lyrics and the “story” song is evocative and compelling. Linda re-started her cabaret career 5 years ago as one of the founding members of The Kitchenettes, and last year completed a tour of her one-woman show MY OWN KIND OF HAT! --- “a perfect accompaniment to dinner with friends.” Her CD, Life is but a dream was voted one of the top female vocalist CDs of 2003 by Cabaret Hotline Online of New York. Linda recently has been performing with The Max Perkoff Jazz Trio at private parties. Her new show, LONG AS YOU’RE LIVING, the Songs of Oscar Brown Jr., will open in October 2006 with a national tour. www.lindakosut.com.
