The Kindness Kind began as the creation of songwriters Nicolas Danielson and Charles Larson, who met playing together on Seattle-veteran Dolour's summer 2005 US tour. After swapping mix CDs over a post-tour drink they decided it was a match and began spending long hours in a room surrounded by music equipment and bottles.

Charles' roommate and previous bandmate Kevin Bray joined them on drums, while Nicolas' former bandmate Brian Todd arrived on bass soon after hearing the early demos. Finally, Alessandra Rose brought her stunningly clear and expressive voice to the mix to complete the Kindness Kind.

For their debut album, A Novel, the group headed into Bear Creek Studio (Blonde Redhead, The Strokes, Built to Spill, The Black Heart Procession) to record with Lucas Carlyle (assisted on albums with The Gossip, The Octopus Project, The Album Leaf, etc). The result is powerful: a vibrant mix of indie pop that moves from the delicate to the brash, shifting in and out of electronic moods, while expanding into sweeping soundscapes.

A west coast tour is in the works for February 2008, as well as further adventures in recording.
