Album Notes

KIKA-BOO, the youngest of three boys, was born Steven Reed, in Toledo, Ohio. He readily admits that although both Tim and Ace, his two older brothers, were two very gifted and talented mentors, he knew music would be the profession to make his mark in. He contributes his love of music to his roots of being reared in a family with strong ties to the Holiness Church. He acknowledges the fact that the highlight of worship service for him and his brothers was the music. At the age of 4, he got his first feel of a musical instrument and this was when he felt he wanted to be a musician. One evening while the rest of the family was eating dinner and his oldest brother Tim was practicing upstairs on the guitar for an evening worship service, Tim asked KIKA-BOO did he want to try and play the guitar. After seizing the opportunity to play the guitar, KIKA-BOO knew from then on that music was definitely meant for him. In 1981, KIKA-BOO saw his father for the last time. He became very depressed and felt that his father's passing was an obstacle that he would never be able to overcome. It was a very difficult time for him and his family but through this emotional suffering, KIKA-BOO felt his calling to the musical profession. While struggling to cope with the loss of his father, he vented out his depression and began to craft his skill. Everyday after school, he would spend up to six hours in his room creating music. No one in his family knew how creative he was becoming with his music. While spending day after day sharpening his skills, KIKA-BOO had become an innovative musical creator. By the age of 19, KIKA-BOO and his cousin, Christopher T. Witcher (Spy-C) produced a demo entitled "I Like What You Do". KIKA-BOO came up with a unique name for them called "New Approach" and they remained a group for about 3 years. KIKA-BOO continued to struggle to complete a second project called "Wanna Get Close" and even found a manager who produced his first video. With his demo in his hand, he knew there was more to learn about the entertainment field so he enrolled in Patrick Henry Community College to study the various aspects of the entertainment industry. Later in his life, at age 25, he became concerned about if he was going to make it in his favorite endeavor so he decided to join the Air Force. KIKA-BOO were met with many challenges while serving and eventually were honorably separated from the military. After returning home March ‘99, he joined a contemporary gospel group named "Brotherhood" as a keyboard player. He also just finished producing a recent project with his newlywed, Sheila, He also manage to make to the stage at "The House Of Blues in West Hollywood, California, rubbed shoulders with James Brown, the late Rerun, Della Reese ("Touch By an Angel") among a few others, and is still pursuing what he believes is his calling to be one of a kind...gifted musician.

Kik, Once again you have set the tempo! Your music has always been ahead of it's time. Today, it continues to climb the ladder of greatness. I believe you are being molded to stand sise by side with other great artist such as Prince aka "the Artist formerly known as," and yes R.Kelly (without the negative). I even see you as artist thats prepared to take Virginia, South & North Carolina, maybe even the nation by storm! It would not surprise me to see you one day except a grammy. Your hard work is definately showing. I see and hear it all through your music. And I can't forget your cousin Spy-C. You are a Great impact by yourself, but together- mere words can never describe you! Ur brother 4 life, Chris aka Monte
