listening to music from an alternate universe.
author: Lucky OceansImagine a musical world where the violinist holds a plastic disc in her mouth so she can alter her sound by changing the shape of her mouth. Imagine a flute designed to be played by three musicians at once. What about an instrument that you don't touch, but move your hands to manipulate its airflow? Listen to the electric one string instrument similar to a tea chest bass. Are we talking about an avant-garde music ensemble? No - these are the traditional instruments played by the Khac Chi Ensemble a Vietnamese Duo now based in Canada. The sounds of their CD - 'Spirit of Vietnam' - might make you wonder if you're listening to music from an alternate universe. Lucky Oceans - The Daily Planet ABC Radio National AUSTRALIA
