notes
Kent McAlister is a soulful country/roots artist whose wit and sincere insight into matters of the heart has made him one the most promising up and coming artists in Canadian country music. His traditional-yet-unorthodox brand of country music stays true to the genre but incorporates a number of influences ranging from punk to classic rock to jazz. McAlister's songs are infused with his unique humour, observations and an enthusiasm that comes across best in his live shows.
On his debut CD Memory Replacer, McAlister proves his ability to take old-fashioned tales of heartache and hangover and inject them with a modern day perspective of temptation and misfortune. It is a tremendous introduction to this alt-country songwriter.
McAlister has complemented his heartfelt lyrics and musical virtuosity by assembling a band of high-calibre talent, featuring Craig McCaul on bass, Shawn Killaly on drums and Tim Tweedale on dobro, lap steel and trumpet. The final result is a truly fresh and unique sound -that takes country/roots to a whole new level and makes them a popular concert draw everywhere they play.

A great album! I was never a huge fan of country but this album has changed me. Kent's smooth, mellow voice has got me hooked. The songs are a mix of upbeat country, and jazz and rock infused tunes. This is New Country at its best!
