notes
"Uninvited Guest," the debut CD of the multi-talented Kenny White is something very much worth investigating. Once you've rolled up your sleeves and gotten in there, you will emerge as if you've just been on an amazing journey.
Equally heartbreaking and humorous, these are songs written in a very unique voice. The matters of the heart have been explored from A to Z, yet when your ear catches the poetry here, you feel as if you may be hearing these stories for the first time. These songs will show just how multi-faceted an organ the heart is.
Featured artists on the CD:
Marc Cohn
Shawn Colvin
Peter Wolf
Larry Campbell (Bob Dylan band)
Shawn Pelton (Saturday Night Live)
Duke Levine (Mary Chapin Carpenter)
and many other of NY's finest soulful players.
Radio legend, George Graham, named "Uninvited Guest" Album of the Week on his weekly program "Mixed Bag" on WVIA in PA. Read the review at www.georgegraham.com/reviews/kwhite.html

some other reviews:
Kenny has taken his vast amount of energy for spotlighting others and has turned that light on his own heart this time. The CD, "Uninvited Guest," is the technical culmination of many fruitful years as composer, songwriter, studio musician, and producer, and the emotional culmination of some less successful journeys, brought to you here in crystalline detail.
Associated with some extremely successful CDs and films, Kenny has now found both the desire and clarity to undertake this work of his own. It blueprints a need to find joy under contentment, strength under fear, and does so with humor, perspective, and precision. Each of these stones that is turned over reveals a new gift that is as infectious as it is compelling. "Uninvited Guest" is a work of heart and soul to which anyone, in a small or huge way, can relate.

('a swami's guide to the universe')
Not many artists have the capacity to be melodic, intelligent and direct all at the same time. Kenny is one of the few. He has clearly been steeped in music and self-inflicted torture for so long that he is able to combine haunting melody with acid poetry and still almost effortlessly say exactly what's on his mind. For all its darkness, this is a joyful record. The musicianship and arrangements produce a passion and energy that is uplifting. And Kenny's voice is so sweet and vulnerable that you'll forgive him anything.

Really great CD!
author: Trevor DavisKenny White opened in NYC recently for Cheryl Wheeler (who he often plays with) and really turned me on to a bunch of these songs. The CD is amazing - from the surreal humor of In My Recurring Dream to the funky possibility of Last Stop. He is both an accomplished writer and performer - and this CD really brings it home.
SOMEONE GIVE THIS GUY A RECORD DEAL!!!!!
author: JenniferI stumbled into Kenny White at the old Living Room on Stanton & Allen a couple of years ago, and he reminded me of the miracle of New York -- that you could just happen to walk into some small music joint and enter a world of musical genius. I have bought "Uninvited Guest" for all of my friends, many of whom live in other countries. Everyone loves it, and learns from its astute, insightful lyrics -- written, I am told, during the painful days of Kenny's divorce. Hearing his CD play is only part of the magic; watching him perform -- his fingers landing on the keyboard with such lithe dexterity and super-human speed -- can take your breath away.
This is the best cd I've heard in the past few years. Every song is remarkably different, yet each a gem in its own write. Where did this guy come from?
Great music...
author: A Fan...is great therapy. Cancel next week's appointment with your shrink and instead spend the time and copay on "Uninvited Guest." Each track's selfless lyrics meet the high standards set by the impressive instrumentation. I love the depth of "Beautiful Changes" and the growth in "In My Recurring Dream." Kenny repects the listener with every word and every note. He should be very proud of this album. (you can check out the lyrics and other stuff at kennywhite.net)
A Gem of a live show !
author: Ariel Hyatt, NycI had the pleasure of seeing Kenny White quite accidentally last week at The Village Underground (it pays to arrive at shows early sometimes) and we were treated to a set by a songwriter who blew our minds with his depth and humor and visceral songwriting. If you ever have a chance to see Kenny Live you will be delighted - we all agreed that "In My Recurring Dream" was our favorite. See this artist if you can.
