In music, there are only twelve tones and a group of beats. In our imagination, however, the sky is the limit.

-Kenny Brooks
In addition to being an extraordinarily versatile guitarist, Kenny Brooks is also a splendid composer/arranger who currently resides in the Inland Empire of Southern California. For over twenty years, he has performed with numerous R&B, Jazz and Latin ensembles.
Originally from Lake Charles, Louisiana, Kenny started his music career as a Rock/R&B guitarist. After being exposed to Classical and Big Band arrangements during a stint with the U.S. Air Force Band, he discovered his voice as a composer. He uses musical elements from all genres like a painter using a full spectrum of colors on one palate. This ethereal, "sound portrait" approach towards "Smooth Jazz" guitar compositions sets him apart from his contemporaries.
You can hear a number of influences in Kenny's music; Earl Klugh, Barry White, Pat Metheny, George Benson. Fans have found Kenny's approach to the jazz guitar instrumental is refreshingly creative.

A hidden gem
author: MICHAEL GERARD JAMES4 stars out of 4 After spending time performing in Pop and Rock bands, Louisiana native Kenny Brooks started concentrating on traditional jazz. His latest CD, “Jetstream” gives his listeners some really great jazz music with different guitar flavors. He caters to both acoustic & electric "Gibson" styles. “On Shore Flow” has a sound similar to Peter White & Torcuato Mariano, very lively and cool. The title track has a sound much like Brian Hughes, very soothing. Overall, I really enjoyed his style of guitar playing and I feel is one of my favorite CD's this year. The production value is high quality. This is a hidden gem that should be getting better exposure. It’s outstanding work.
Hypnotic
author: G. Laten ThompsonThanks to CD Baby, new artist like this one can be heard. I would rate this artist up there with the best in contemporary jazz.
