Keating’s new release, “BELMONT” is songwriting at its purest. Tough and tender, the twang infused songs tell stories of hope and struggle with a refreshing honesty, grit and timelessness.
The Village Voice raves, "Keating is a wise mix of Lucinda Williams songwriting, Gillian Welch guitar and a vocal all her own… her style invokes a cross between Willie Nelson and John Prine and you don't get any better than that.” You don’t get any better than that.
Having grown up near BELMONT, Massachusetts (where she learned to play guitar from a childhood friend) Annie landed in New York City and there began a decade of activist work. Though she never stopped writing songs, Keating spent years fighting for civil liberties, environmental justice and reproductive rights causes before finding her way back to recording and performing. In the last few years, she’s made up for any lost time with inspired albums.
On her third independent CD release Keating has arrived as an international songwriting force. “BELMONT” is a big slab of pure, organic Americana/roots song writing that has captured ears and minds worldwide.
Produced by Chris Tarrow (GrooveLily and Goodbye Girl Friday) and Jason Mercer (bassist for Ron Sexsmith) Belmont debuted at number 6 in the Euro Americana Radio Chart and has been on the CDBaby.com best seller list for months. Talent spotted by BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris and invited to the UK to perform a live session on his show, Annie will also be briefly touring the UK and Holland performing as an acoustic duo with Chris Tarrow in October.
"What a wonderful treat this album (BELMONT) is... this lady has to be one of the most refreshing female acts to come down the pike in a long, long while."
Maverick Magazine
"Comparisons to Lucinda Williams, Gillian Welch, and Bonnie Raitt all ring true, yet what ultimately impresses is the intimacy and emotion etched in beautiful ballads like For The Taking and Flowers Bloom, and the riveting authority residing in bluesy, backwoods rockers like On the Road 10.”
Performing Songwriter
“We are inundated with CDs but every so often one emerges from the pile that just can't be ignored. BELMONT is on of those albums.”
AmericanaOK
"... Like a female Steve Earle…Not a weak tune, not a fake note. Annie does it first grade.”
Le Cri Du Coyote Magazine
"The major labels make a big mistake when they don't give this rocker a record deal."

Some of Annie's songs flowed better than others. However, on the whole, a good album. Waiting for the next cd!

A superb album, it doesn't really remind me of anyone else so I won't make comparisions. It's skillful and classy music with brilliant lyrics that say things simply but profoundly. Buy it.
