notes
This CD is Authentic,Retro,Old Time Street Corner Guitar Evangelist Music as if it was made in 1920's during the time of Blind Willie Johnson or Blind Lemon Jefferson. KM Williams recorded even in the SAME WAY as his Texas predessors(One Mike straight into the Recording Console;Stella Guitar with no overdubbs;even scratchy and airy sounding like the paramount recording of the 20's),but what the Reverend KM Williams has achieved is THE SAME,RAW,GUTBUCKET sound that you hear on these classic recordings along with the INTENSE SPIRITUAL feel of the old Masters. He plays SINGING Slide guitar along thumped bass lines and gutbucket rhythms simultaneously;very similar to Blind Willie's or Fred McDowell's style ,but with a flair all of his own.RESURRECTION OF OLD TIME SPIRITUALS INDEED! KM Williams hopes to bring back to the limelight the great musical styles of Blind Willie Johnson , Mississippi Fred McDowell, Rev. Gary Davis and Rev. Pearly Brown;especially to draw attention to the music of Blind Willie Johnson. If you can feel it;buy it and also seek out these Orginal Masters of Gospel/Blues music!

Fantastic!
author: SiThis a great album of old time songs. A few of these appear on other KM Williams and Trainreck albums in different styles. The tracks chosen are perfect. My fave is KM's version of Lamp Trimmed and Burning which is the best version I have heard of an often copied song.
Old School blues
author: BCWOW! I didn't know what to expect with this album. I bought it on a whim. And I am glad I did. Put it into rotation with my Charlie Patton, skip James and Lighting Hopkins. I love the feel ofthis ablum. Simple, understated just a man his guitar and his voice. Brings back that old time feel.
Neat,Affecting Versions of Many Spiritual Standards
author: Blues BunnyYou can't get more straightforward than this 14 track release from K.M Williams. One man and his Stella guitar singing like many delta bluesmen have done in the past. Recorded live, warts and all, this album contains neat, affecting versions of many spiritual standards. K.M. Williams does not have a spectacular voice but there is no doubting the honesty of the performances. Of particular note is "Lamp Trimmed and Burning" featuring vocal assistance from Diana Williams, "God's Got It" and the closing track "Live So God Can Use Me with just his voice and a harmonica. Even though this was recorded in 2006, this is a throwback to simpler times and the perfect antidote to the processed music that is normally fed to us these days. Perhaps not as special as the Country Roads, Street Corners & Church Houses album but a worthy effort nonetheless.
GREAT DONHOME GOSPEL/BLUES
author: GilbertI have ordered this CD after reading the great review published in SOUL BAG(French blues magazine).Excellent songs.Super feeling. One of the most important CD of country gospel/blues for a very long time.I hope KM Williams will come to France as soon as possible.
Another Winner!
author: Mick RainsfordYet another CD from KM Williams - and - dare I say it - Yet another winner. Williams pays Tribute To Blind Willie Johnson and the guitar evangelist - not just recreating their music, but also investing it with his own style and character in the way that only a master of his art can! Williams opens with " Old Time Religion", a slab of downhome gospel performed to a droning Hooker- like rhythm laced with keening slide."What is the Soul of a Man""Can't Nobody Hide from God" and "Rock of Ages' feature wistful vocals and slide riding chunky rhythms. "Nobody's Fault but Mine' find Williams fragile vocals mirrored by his slide. "His Blood can Make me Whole" is a wistful, but infectious rendition of Fred McDowell's and Blind Willie Johnson(For the complete review go the "Blues in Britain " website to order the issue the review is in)
Great
author: BrentAgreed with the previous revue. The thumping gutbucket guitar, and the spiritual peace of the songs would make Blind Willie proud. The last song has great sounding harmonica.
The Return of Blind Willie Johnson!
author: JohnKM Williams;on this CD,sounds as if he was taught by Blind Willie himself! The same gutbucket rhythmns;perfect slide guitar and intense vocals(however not as intense as the orginal Blind Willie). This recording sounds like it could have been made in the 1920's. GREAT!
