Katrina Chester is ready. This incredible performer's entire life has been a musical journey that has lead to this moment in time, when all the facets of her talent shine in a brilliant solo career.

Katrina Chester's fans are ready. Her already sizeable and quickly growing following has been waiting in sweet anticipation of the inevitable day when her name becomes a household word.

Katrina's new self-titled EP is ready. A tantalizing glimpse of her forthcoming album, it's a sultry and intoxicating blend of Neo-Soul, R&B, and Funk, all tinged with the distinctive vocal intensity that critics have called "hypnotic, yet accessible". Says Katrina, "I couldn't have imagined the response to be as positive and excited as it has been. Industry-wise, I think the material's refreshing. And with Joss Stone breaking the Neo-Soul market for a lot of us, it's bringing an old form of R&B/Soul back to the forefront, with a new twist".

Katrina penned the tunes with help from such songwriting luminaries as Daryl Pediford (Kool & The Gang), Marty Fredrickson (Faith Hill, Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne), and John Margolis of Trans-Siberian Orchestra. And her band is no less impressive, headed by co-writer/producer Ian Hatton, guitarist for Bonham, Paul Rogers, and Robert Plant's Honey Drippers. Drum chores are handled by Godsmack's Tommy Stewart, and Rob Clores (Enrique Inglesias) plays keys. Bass is played by the talented German bass player Oliver Hofer.

Daughter of the legendary session drummer Gary Chester, Katrina's creative odyssey began in the most musical of environments. "I still can't believe it, as I look back, at some of the people that had been very regularly at my home when I was a kid: Jim Croce, Patti LaBelle, Burt Bacharach," Katrina remembers, "Some of the great R&B and Soul legends were my father's colleagues and personal friends."


To quench her passion for performing, Katrina began fronting bands at age 12. At a young age she took advantage of the vibrant New York music scene and unleashed her original music when most kids were worried about passing their driver's test. Playing all-original music, her band Luxx did 300 dates a year for three years across the USA and overseas. Katrina's powerful voice and tornado-like intensity drove Luxx's sound, garnering them opening slots for Godsmack, 3 Doors Down, Fuel, and Saliva.

Katrina has recorded extensively as well, and has the platinum albums to prove it. In addition to three albums with Luxx (BMG), she performed her own brand of vocal magic on Godsmack's double platinum album Awake (Universal/Republic), as well as two double-platinum recordings with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (Atlantic Records), also appearing as featured vocalist on two TSO national tours. In early 2002, Katrina won the lead role in "Love, Janis", the smash Off-Broadway musical about the life of Janis Joplin. Critical acclaim was immediate and unanimous. The "Love, Janis" producers even decided to give Katrina her own "Saturday Night Late Show," with creative freedom. The resulting notoriety won her appearances on The Howard Stern Show, WB Morning News, and on Radio Q104.3. In many ways, "Janis" brought Katrina home, paving the way for the material she would write for her burgeoning solo career. The timing seems right now for her particular blend of Neo-Soul, R&B, Blues, and Funk; with a flavor and trademark all her own. "I would leave the show so inspired, I just kept writing!" she remarked. Katrina has continued to land other notable acting roles, most recently on the final season of the HBO smash Sex and the City.

Katrina's career continues to evolve as she embarks on her summer tour of Canadian Blues Festivals. She will revisit her Blues and R&B roots, thrilling audiences all over the Great White North with her special brand of high intensity vocal prowess. The tour kicks off at the Thunder Bay Blues Festival on the western shore of Lake Superior on July 9th, winds through the Canadian town of London on July 16th, and lands in Windsor, Ontario on July 17th. Katrina will share the stage with such legends as John Mayall, Dr. John, Edgar & Johnny Winter, Lucky Peterson and many others.

Perhaps the most exciting new development in Katrina's already impressive career is her landing the role of Janis Joplin in the national tour of the off-Broadway show "Love Janis". Already a veteran of the off-Broadway run in NYC, Katrina was actually chosen by the producers as the best vocalist to play the role. Janis left behind some hard shoes to fill, and Katrina has risen to the top of the heap, winning the chance to portray this American icon in the very first national tour of this smash hit. Sam Andrews is onboard as musical director, and was the guitarist in Joplin's original band, Big Brother and the Holding Company. Presented jointly by the Joplin family estate and Tony-nominated director Randy Myler, the "Love Janis" tour will begin in Louisville, Kentucky on August 18th, and then heads to Cincinnati, Ohio. Future shows will be booked in conjunction with Columbia Artist Management, and dates and locations will soon be announced.

Yes, Katrina Chester is ready. And the world is ready to embrace her unique contribution to the ever evolving genre of Soul in all its popular forms and flavors. Addictive. Intoxicating. Exhilarating. Don't say we didn't warn you.

    Great cd...my friend let me barrow his...so I had to get my own copy and I've listen to it since I barrowed his everyday! Great cd every song on it I like...it's one where it has a great groove and it stays there the whole way through...saw Katrina last year at "It's All Good" show with some other TSO artist...and her and her band puts on a great show! Looking forward to the full length cd! Keep up the great work!

    5 stars is not enough for this debut. Give me more Katrina. It's time to take "Love, Janis" truly national. As one who grew up with Janis and saw her perform many times around the bay area with Big Brother, I tell you that you reach back in time and capture her spirit, her voice, her essence. Of course you are much better looking than she was. If the tour doesn't go national, please go back to touring with TSO. One way or the other, I need you in my music collection.

    I'll admit, when I heard about Katrina Chester going solo I was a bit bummed. I was a huge fan of Luxx and was saddened that they would not be back. I came around and bought the CD....And I was completely amazed. The songs are deep and enlightening. I don't know why more folks have not been turned on the Katrina and this CD but this is the best CD i'v bought in a long time!

    I typically listen to much harder music but the lyrics of this CD are amazing. Each song is so easy to relate to and Karina's smooth soulful voice completes each song. I would reccommend this CD to anyone. It is AMAZING!!

After fronting the indie rock band LUXX for the past seven years, Katrina is stepping out in a new genre, showing us that the blues live on. The result is astounding. With songs such as BLUE, which chronicals the death of her father, 60's session drummer Gary Chester, Katrina shows us not only the depth of vocal talent but also that she possesses the rare power to take listeners into her emotional recollection, leaving us standing where she once stood, looking through her eyes. This is a feat that many song writers attempt but few ever accomplish. The next track, WHO'S LOVIN' YOU, gives us a glimpse into the depths of Katrina's soul as she reflects on the importance of love and friendship in life. With lines such as "with every tear there's a little happy pain. It's all in the game." we can see there is more to Katrina than just a beautiful voice. And then there is CRACKED, written for Katrina's neice Alexa Chester, which shows us that Ian Hatton (former LUXX guitarist) has talent which stretches far beyond the power chords of modern rock. His steel guitar riffs pull us in while Katrina teaches us that nothing is "all it's cracked up to be." This new music, however, is all it's cracked up to be and more.
